"I am happy, I miss them very much when I leave." she was still smiling. Her eyes had lightened with the joy she felt, and Raven was right. She looked better, and felt better to be home again. "It didn't used to always be like this, but spend enough time and you get close." She looked around at everyone in the cavern, she had been coming here so many years. She had seen members pass, and new cubs born. She couldn't ask for a better family. "Koga is the leader here, well him and his wife Ayame. I owe a lot to this tribe, they helped me when my mother passed, and I the first time in my life was alone." Kensune sighed, she would always be thankful to them.
Kai, with his mid length white but silvery hair. Had been watching as Kensune and her comrades entered the cave. He was happy to see her, but would not go to her. Or at least not yet. He stayed where he was, and allowed them to sit. Staying out of their line of sight, in the dark corner of the cavern. It wasn't that he didn't want to see Kensune, but he would observe her comrades for a time. Koga and Ayame were gone, leaving him to watch over the tribe for a time. Knowing full well Kensune would not bring danger to the tribe, he did not flinch.
Kensune had looked for Kai, but didn't see any trace of him. With Koga and Ayame gone, that meant he was here watching over the tribe. He would show himself sooner or later. She hoped for sooner. "It's your hair, and cloths Merissa. The young girls here, they are, well girls. It is also your scent, you smell different. But in a good way!" she made sure to add that last part, not wanting Merissa to think it a bad thing.

Merissa laughed. It was an odd compliment. She wondered how she smelled to the wolves. Raven would tell her that she smelled like those rare flowers that grow in the woods and meadows only during a certain time of year.
"Thanks. Actually my hair wasn't always this colour." She shook a length of white hair so that it fell halfway across her face. Nor were my eyes in fact. Up until a year ago my hair was golden like straw and my eyes matched the colour of the sky. For some reason up until then my demon half had been completely hidden from me. When my powers awakened my appearance changed to what it is now."
"still as beautiful as ever." Raven concluded. He leaned over and kissed Merissa on the forehead and she smiled warmly at him.
"Before that Raven trained me how to fight using a variety of weapons. Like him I found the sword the easiest master. When our father was alive, he would train Raven everyday so that if ever needed he could learn to fight without relying solely on his demon side. He wanted us to know to live in both worlds."

"Such changes, had to be interesting. Like being a different person on the outside." Kensune hadn't had such changes, she simply learned about herself more then anything. He mother didn't talk about her demon characteristics, it was a taboo subject. But either way she in secret tested out her claws, and knew some day she would learn what it meant to be a full blooded demon. "I haven't ever really used a weapon, just my claws. Unlike the wolf tribe here, I stray away from fights. Earlier today, I wouldn't have fought you Raven, if I didn't have to." You could call her a coward, whatever you like. But she knew nothing of herself, and knew she would be no match for anyone powerful.

"Nor would I have fought you Kensune. For Merissa and myself were done with battles and wars. We fought for our place in the world and now we only wish for that special place where we can live out our lives. Another reason why I learned to use the sword was that at first I had no one to teach me to control my impulses for my demon half. Our mother had passed on and she did not wish for me to use them against anyone despite the treatment I received from the other children of our home. So I learned to defend myself in new ways."
He raised his hand and looked at his claws in an almost mournful fashion. "But as I grew older I could no longer keep that other half inside of me. If I didn't learn how to control it I would have been completely consumed by it. Now here I stand, on top of both sides. Merissa's power is different from mine. It is by far more stronger, so wherever we do end up, I hope I can help her learn to control it by then."

Kensune was going to continue the conversion when she noticed a familiar face walking toward them. Kai looked handsome as ever, he tried to hard to seem like a typical adult male wolf demon. He tried to follow Koga's lead, trying to appear more dominant. As he came their way, he didn't make eye contact with Kensune. That was normal, he didn't want her to know he missed her. What a confusing relationship they had, they hadn't even told each other how they felt. But they both knew, that they were destined to be together. Only time would bring their true feeling to the surface, the tribe knew. They had watched them grow together, and it was more obvious then the two of them knew.
When Kai reached them, he softened his gaze and finally made eye contact with Kensune. She slightly lost her smile, and blushed a little. It was enough for Raven and Merissa to notice, and she didn't want to be like an open book. "Raven, Merissa, this is Kai. He's from the northern tribe, but after some sad events he came to be here." Kai looked at the two new comers, and nodded his head. He shot his eyes back to Kensune, and then walked away. He wasn't being rude, he just didn't like small talk.
"Don't mind him, he's not always like that. It takes him a while to warm up to new people." She regained her smile, her cheeks still red. "Do you guys want anything to eat or drink?" she decided to change the subject. Trying to revive her composer.

Raven stared at Kai as he inspected them before leaving without a word. The young demon reminded him of himself in some ways. Always watching, never speaking and above all else keeping a careful eye over those he cared for. "Some water would be fine, and any food you have will do us nicely."
"He seems very fond of you." Merissa suggested watching Kai leave. She noticed the slight reddish tinge in her cheeks when Kai had walked into the room. Kai's actions seemed to be that of an protective mate. It was obvious too that Kensune had some feelings for the wolf who was second in command. "Is he your mate?" she asked curiously.
(my post was a bit awkward. I was trying to fit in both them asking for food and their reactions to Kai as well. It fits though.)

Kensune blushed even more at the question. She had never thought about it that way, and in her heart she was screaming YES! "You could say that, we have been close since we were younger." She blinked and looked in Kai's direction. She longed for him to hold her, to act like they were mates. "I hope one day...." She stopped. She wouldn't finish the sentence, it wasn't something she wanted to dive into. With that she got up, and was going to get them something to eat and drink. "I'll be back, I'm going to see what I can get to nourish our hungry bodies." She laughed, and then took her leave. She would leave them to relax, and just settle in. She hoped the atmosphere would comfort them, and they would get some well needed rest as they stayed here. She also hoped to have some time with Kai, and maybe make more progress with their relationship. (I wanted to give Raven and Merissa time to be alone, and talk among themselves. I can easily fit the convo with Kai and Kensune in the next reply! )

When Kensune was out of earshot Raven leaned back and stretched out on the cloth. Merissa looked around the cave for a moment longer. "Well what do you think?" she asked him.
"I like her. Her people seem nice enough too. Plus this kind of living is almost normal for us."
His sister smiled. "Not like back in Vivi's village. It was good there too but I always missed the open air and sleeping under the stars."
Raven sat up. "I thought you liked having a roof over your head and a warm bath at night."
"I do. I do. But it's traveling around like this that brought us together. Somehow I think I'd miss it sitting around in one place all the time."
"Kai seemed agreeable enough. Kensune reminds me of you actually back in the old days. When you used to follow me around and cling to my neck. She may be a bit past that stage now that she's older but there's no doubt what she feels for him is real. A place like this would be perfect for them to live together."
"and for us?" she asked him with a raised eyebrow. "Where would that place be?" Raven looked at her quizzically. "Anywhere and everywhere I suppose. Perhaps our place will simply be the road in front of us and the stars above us." He put an arm around Merissa's shoulders and pulled her against him. "I promised you all those years ago I wouldn't ever leave. This is our life now."

Kensune would get them fresh water if it was available. And see what the tribe members had to snack, or munch on. She slowly made her way, when she felt a familiar touch on her arm. She turned slowly, and blushed at the face in front of her. It was her beloved Kai, he did always look more handsome up close. "Who did you bring with you Sune? It's unlike you to travel with anyone, let alone two other half-demons." His face was calm, but it showed a hint of worry. He had missed her dearly, and was afraid something had happened.
"It's a funny story, Raven sorta dropped in on me this evening." she knew he would be shocked that she brought strangers to the tribe, let alone people she had just met. And she didn't even have to finish with the details, because she knew her response had layed it all out for him. Kai had a quick mind, it was truly one of his strengths. "They are no one to worry about, I assure you Kai." His face had changed just how she thought it would, he went from calm to slight anger. He trusted her, but knew she was too caring and nice. He feared it would get the best of her one of these day.
"I don't like the fact that you just met them, and brought them here!" His tone was sharp, he had the whole tribe's safety on his shoulders. And she dare do something like this! Then before he could say anything else, Kensune had placed her right hand on his chest. About where Kai's heart would rest. This was something they started when they were younger, in times of stress or trouble. Kai softened his gaze, and placed his hand on her's. They stood like that for a moment, and then Kai took a step back. He still held her hand, and slowly went to leave. His hand gently let go of her's, and he walked away. He trusted her, and left it alone. She loved the little things, but wished he was more affectionate. But she held on to the little things, that for now was enough.
Kensune returned to the spot where they had been sitting, she brought with her water, cooked meat, and rice. She herself had had the rice, and made it for them. Most tribe members wouldn't eat it, they were meat eaters. Though Kensune had tried to have them cook like stews, and soups. She had learned from her mother, and wasn't bad herself at cooking. "It isn't much, but the tribe is picky and doesn't eat very diverse foods. The water is fresh, so I hope this will tied you off for now!?" She still had the lump in her throat from speaking to Kai. She just longed to be held, and talk with him for a bit. They hadn't done so in what seemed so long, Kai was one to be in private. And in a cavern with twenty odd wolf demon's, it was hard to find a private spot.

Though they were standing far away Raven and Merissa heard small snatches of Kai and Kensune's conversation. The cave bounced their voices back to them amongst the small talk of the other wolves in the tribe.
"I guess we aren't as welcome as we thought." Raven mused. "He's just protecting his people. We can't really blame him. After all we did literally just walk into his territory. Invited or not he's only thinking about their safety."
Kensune reappeared moments later with water and food. After thanking her they immediately began eating it finding it extremely delicious.
"Your a really good cook!" Merissa exclaimed helping herself to another serving of rice. She couldn't help but notice the change in Kensune's demeanor. She was happy before, but now she seemed upset, almost depressed. She tilted her head to one side. "Is everything okay Kensune? Did something happen with Kai?"

"I am glad you like it, eat it all up till your content." She half hearty smiled at them enjoying the food, she wasn't sure what to think. "Don't mind me, Kai just worries too much." He would leave the subject alone, trusting her. "So, do you think you will be comfortable enough to stay here?" she hoped it wasn't too much, the tribe members and the dense cavern floor with only cloths to sleep on. She was used to not having comfort while sleeping, she could sleep in trees and between roots anytime. Their was a time when she had a blanket, and head rest. But those days were gone, and she was okay with it.

Merissa nodded. "It may not look like it but this is the kind of style we're used too. In fact Raven and I were just discussing how places like here might actually be better for us than some random village somewhere. Be it in a cave or under the stars."
"When you spend most of your time outdoors its the only place you feel comfortable" Raven added.

"I know what you mean..." And she knew all to well, especially in the forest where Raven and her had met. The tree she was under was actually one of her favorites. It was it's roots, she could curl up in them. She felt safe, and secure in them. She took a moment to recollect herself, in her silence. She smiled, and picked out a piece of meat to munch on. She was hungry, but should didn't have the appetite right now. She would go later, and have a word with Kai. She had something she wanted to tell him, and she hoped he would be in a better mood by then. She felt like a hostess, serving her honored guests in her home. She felt a feeling of belonging, like she usually did in the tribe. This had been even when she first came to the tribe, and she would never forget the first time she set her eyes on Kai. They had been a lot younger, he himself was fairly new to the tribe. He looked miserable, and she herself looked to be broken. At first they didn't get along, Kai wasn't looking for any new friends. The women of the tribe made sure to find ways they had to spend time together, and slowly they became friends. Then as they grew older, Kai started looking at Kensune differently. She they same way to him, and their friendship changed for the better.
Later on that evening, after she had attended to her new friends. Making sure they were comfortable, and wern't in any need of anything. She quietly took her leave, only a few members of the tribe were still awake. Most were only scouts and quards, watching and protecting the tribe. Kensune knew where Kai would be, he had his usual spot. He liked to get away, and look at the stars. In this cave, there were only a few spots you could do this. In the back of the cave, there were two tunnels. They were self creating, and had been there when the tribe moved to the location. One tunnel just lead to a smaller cavern, while the other went rather deep. Then at the end of it, it went up to the top of the rock formation in which the main cave was apart of. Kai would be there, looking at the stars. Getting his moment of peace. Kensune made her way to him, making sure not to make too much noise. It didn't take her long to reach the exit point, and sqeese her way through it. And she was right, not that far from her, was her hearts mate and confident.
"I thought I would find you up here..." she hoped she startled him, but not likely. He was good at recoinizing her scent. She smiled, as she made her way over to him. He was silent as ever, just looking up at the little lights in the night sky.
"I still am having trouble with you bringing strangers to the tribe, what if they weren't who you thought they were. You could have brought danger, and people could have gotten hurt!" he was to the point as usual, she thought he would bring it up again. Kensune's smile faded, and she looked down at her feet. "Your right Kai, I could have done something that indangered the tribe. I am sorry, but it's done." he would most likely continue with his speech, and she was ready to get an ear full. But as she looked up, she noticed him looking at her. His eyes soft to her, and his lips relaxed. "I don't want to do this now, not after you just got back." he was so serious in his tone, not like him almost. She blushed a little, confused at his change in emotion.
"Kai, I need to tell you something...." but before she could finish, Kai had placed his hand on her heart. Like she had done before, and he leaned toward her. Resting his head against hers, he was raditating warmth. She had missed him so much, and these private moments they shared away from the rest of the tribe. "Sune, I.... hate it when you leave me..." Kensune was shocked, did he use the word you in that sentince! "I fear your not going to return one day, and I will be devistated." With that, Kensune lifted her face to him. His eyes were bright, almost like he was going to cry. "Kai, I...I'm sorry to make you..." Kai's lips had met her's, she had taken in a lot of air in her lungs, was this really happening! He had taken hold of her shoulders, and pulled her closer while their kiss deepened. At first her eyes remained opened to his closed, and then she eased into closing them to the moment. They stood there for moments, just taking each other in. Then Kai released her, and looked at her like a wolf curessing his mate for the first time. Kensune was still in shock, as she lept into his arms. He returned the gesture, and wrapped his around her frame. This was the day she never thought would come, and she was so happy! Looking up at him, she smiled. Then they both looked up to the sky, and stood there on the rocky hill holding each other.
They had stayed up there for hours, till dawn broke. Kensune left him, and returned to her friends. Smiling happily to herself, she knew the other members of the tribe could smell Kai's scent on her. Some of the older women smiled, they had been up attending to he cubs. They knew that their long awaited wishes had come to terms. She smiled back at them, and continued to her way back to her new friends.

Raven and Merissa thanked Kensune again for her generosity and walked towards a less crowded part of the cave after bidding her goodnight. The two stretched out on the cloth that had been laid out for them. Merissa wrapped her arms around Raven's neck and rested her head on his chest. Raven kissed her and whispered sweet dreams in her ear. She laughed softly and nuzzled up against him slowly drifting off. Raven rested his chin on Merissa's head, slowly stroking her hair. He was glad for Kensune, and the fact that he had met another good person in the world. Kai may not be fond of them at the moment, but that could easily change. He was obviously in love with Kensune, and where love was concerned little things like this didn't seem to matter. They would find their way towards each other in the end. After all, isn't that what he did? Raven drew Merissa closer to him and closed his eyes, slipping into a deep, restful sleep.
Morning had come and it seemed like most of the wolves had already had woken before Raven opened his eyes. As his eyes readjusted to the light he looked down at Merissa who was still fast asleep. Nudging her gently he put a finger underneath her chin and lifted her face to his kissing her quickly on the lips. "Hey there you." he whispered to her.
Merissa yawned and snuggled up to him. "Morning. Is Kensune up yet?"
"I think that's her making her way over here now." he said pointing towards the opposite end of the cave. Indeed the young fox was making her way towards them and apparently attracting the attention of all the other wolves in the process. Merissa quickly sat up and with a yawn rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"Morning Kensune. Did you sleep well?" she asked

Long white braided hair flowed gracefully behind this strange looking priestess, footsteps left silent echoes, that creatures only with them ost sensitive hear could pick up, Following along a river along an empty dirt road, her empty icy eyes took in the lush scenery, the sound of the trickling water and a soft breaze would be comforting, if she knew how to feel such things. Even after all this time of traveling, of honing her skills, of socializing with humans and the ocassional friendly demon who also seemed to have emotions, she oculd not understand what she was doing wrong, or what was wrong with her. PErhaps she was damaged in some way, broken, or maybe there was really nothing that crossed her way to give her any true reason to feel. Being alone was perfectly fine with Suei, unlike others solitude had no effect on her and did not make her miserable, in fact it gave her a rest from the watchful, weary gazes of the villagers that somethimes belived she was a demon in disguise until she actually helped them in some way to show what she truly was. "this is all too puzzling, I want to feel but then again don't really see the point in it, like sorrow, why on earth would i want to feel something like that?" she murmured to herself in a naturally soft tone, The young priestess had wistness countless humans mourning over loved ones they lost, and some just so full of sorrow they eventually gave up living, maybe it was best that she was, the way she was. At least she wouldn't have to feel such painful things.
