The sun was setting quickly with the ever familiar dusk. Kensune decided to stop her day's journey, and find a place in the comfort of the forest. Where she knew she could curl up and simply relax. It's not that she didn't have a stressfull life, well that is as long as she stayed way from the villages. She had had enough of the scowls, and threats from the villagers. Even if she hid parts of herself, they knew what she was. And she wasn't welcomed, she longed to be excepted. She could understand why her adoptive mother had lived alone, humans were not nice. Or at least to things, and people they didn't understand.
She found a nice deep rooted tree, and decided to sit beneath it. She sighed as she opened her small sack, and began looking for something to snack on. She wan't hungry enough to go find food, even though some fish sounded wonderful. She had collected some berries earlier, and decided she would munch on them for the time being. Oh how she longed for her mother's cooking, and company. These last couple years seemed to be the worst, and it seemed she hadn't gotten anywhere. She always returned to the forest, and alone.
"I am such a coward, demons don't act this way! Do they?" she said quietly to herself, sighing again.
Kensune longed to visit Koga and the wolf clan. Or Kai, even though he completely didn't share her feelings. He always seemed to escape every time she showed up, but she never let that stop her from enjoying the feeling of belonging. But it never lasted, because she knew she must try to meet her goals, and she quickly started off again after a few days. This last time though, when she visited the northern tribe. Kai gave her something before she left. To someone else a stone would seem like a strange gift, she could see how he had tried to make it look polished. It was pretty to her, with it's yellow, orange, and pink tones. He had handed it to her, and then turned and left.
She pulled it out after the thought, and studied it like she had many times before. She loved Kai, but had never told him. Though she was sure he liked her, he had always never really showed it. Except for this stone, and she had told herself she would bring him something next time she went to visit. She put the stone back, and leaned back against the tree. Closing her eyes to the passing breeze, and the almost quiet of the forest.

Raven's feet lightly touched the topmost branch of the tree, grabbing the nearest branch to steady himself. He had been traveling alone through the woods for three days now and he decided to test out his new wings. Folding them behind him he found flying to be an exhilarating yet dizzying experience. He could have spanned the length of the entire forest in a matter of hours if he so wished yet at the same time one mistake and he would probably wind up broken on the ground. That and Merissa couldn't fly. He smirked as he imagined the look on his sister's face when he would be dropping down behind her hoping to scare her. Raven, like his sister was a half demon, though for all the mix of abilities it was almost as if they were fully demonic. Raven had the claws, the wings, and the speed. He as tall with long dark hair and dual colored eyes. The right was grey, the colour of clouds in a storm, while the right was a dark crimson and lined with old scars. He looked every bit a full demon instead of half, but he was a half-demon all the same, and that meant constantly fighting for control over his powers.
Merissa had went ahead of him. She usually did that nowadays. Though his true sister, Merissa's demon side was nothing like his. Not only did she look the perfect human her powers were completely different as well. Merissa had the power to conjure and tame flames to her will. A dangerous power that had only recently been awakened in her. Since she didn't have the years of experience that Raven had dealing with his other half, she had to spend twice the amount of time training so that she didn't wind up burning down everything around her. Now that they were finally free of the people that had hunted them for the entire lives all they wished to do was find a place to live in peace -wherever that would be-. Sighing slightly he jumped from the tree hoping to land gracefully but instead landed almost on top of a demon sleeping on the ground.

Kensune had started to finally fall asleep when feeling the presence and the sound of someone else around her. Her eyes snapped open. They quickly studied the individual that had landed in front of her. Not sure who they were, she tensed ready to attack if need be. She hadn't witnessed many other demons, especially ones like this, and in a way she was curious as to whom she was looking at!? But like most situations she felt she needed to be defensive.
She had a very disgusted look on her face, but her eyes gave her away. She could never hide the fear in here eyes, and most of the time this did her in. He mother had always warned her, even if she would attempt to lie. It would not matter, her eyes were the ultimate portal to her ever beautiful soul. Then you also had the beat of her heart, which also gave her way. Beating fast, and showing how afraid she really was.
She decided she should stand up, feeling like it would be a better choice. Just in case this person had come to cause harm. So she slowly began to rise, leaving the slightly curled position she was in. She moved to change her footing, and in doing so tripped herself on one of the large roots of the tree. She fell over the root, and landed on her side. She slightly cried out as she fell, and must have made a fool of herself. Or at the least she felt very foolish. Within a moment she got to her feet, and stood strong. Pushing her hair from her face, she made eye contact with the stranger.
"Who are you?" she could hear the embarrassment in her voice as she spoke the words.
Even so she didn't break eye contact. She waited to see if this person was friend or foe!

Raven staggered to his feet cursing the goddess for his untimely landing. Scratch what he said before. Walking was definitely preferable. It was then that he noticed the girl just a few feet from him. He froze instantly. Instincts told him to make a grab for his sword, but looking at her, she didn't seem all that dangerous. Her face said it all. The innocence gave that much away. Still she was a demon. Her ears gave off that much. There was also the faintest hint of wolf around her. Raven didn't know about the wolf tribes in the areas. Up until recently he would have avoided demons as well as humans. Both were too bothersome and cruel to people like him. Straightening up he brushed the dirt off of himself and refolded his wings behind him.
"Just someone passing through the forest." His voice was a tad darker than he had liked, but then again he was dealing with a demon. Innocent face or not she could still pose as a threat. A slight breeze blew past and ruffled his wings slightly. "Though now it seems it will take me longer than I initially had planned." He stared at her noticing how intently she was looking at him. "My name is Raven. If your worried about me, I don't mean any harm. I've been in enough battles my whole life to know when to avoid them." He made a step forward wincing slightly. He had landed on his back which would normally have been the smart thing to do, but now that he had those two feathery appendages attached to himself it became another weak point. Note to self: Do not land on wings. Raven tried to smile hoping it would ease the girls' fears but at the same time worried it would make him look more threatening. "Who might you be?" he asked.

(So I was looking at Raven's profile, and am confused on something. Is Raven really betrothed to his sister? Marissa?) Kensune's expression softened with Raven's words. Still defensive, she blinked before she decided to answer his question. He looked like he could have been in battle, him in his self would have made her assume that. But now that she relaxed a little bit, she could see he didn't mean to land where he did. In that she wondered if he was maybe hurt? She noticed his smile, and it didn't seem to her like a smile of an enemy. "My name is Kensune...if you mean me no harm. May I ask, are you okay?" she had noticed him wince when he took as step. And couldn't imagine what it would feel like to fall on your own wings. She knew what it was like falling on her own tail, in a way it wasn't different. But her butt had more cushion, compared to his back. With that thought she smiled a little, and ran her fingers through her hair to get it out of her face. She made eye contact with Raven again, and waited for him to answer.

(It's not really a marriage like in our worlds terms. Basically growing up alone and without anyone they raised each other and looked out for one another their entire lives. They swore to one another that whatever happens they would always have each other. They never really gave a thought to others before. So in a way they grew to love each other. The profile makes it look...yeah weird lol, but if I ever get the chance to share the full story you see how much they really need the other one to survive.)
Raven nodded. "It's nothing serious." He flexed his fingers and legs making sure nothing was broken. Satisfied he gave his wings one final shake to make sure they could move. "I've had much worse falls than this before. I'm used to it." He looked around the woods. "I was on my way to the nearest village when I stopped to survey the area. I was perched atop that tree when I lost my balance and...well you know the rest." He looked at Kensune more closely. She was definitely a wolf demon, but something was strange. Normally wolves always traveled in packs from what Raven remembered of them. When you had one, others were sure to be around. When it was just one lone wolf, that usually meant trouble.
"It's nice to meet you Kensune." He offered her a hand to shake. "So what brings you to this part of the woods all by yourself?"

She looked at Raven's hand, and then back to him. Reaching out she took his hand. She wasn't used to such a formal greeting, or gesture some would call it. She was sure her hand shake was weak, because his grip was a lot tighter then her's. She batted her eyes looking at her hand, then back to Raven. Sighing, she thought about how to answer his question. It must look odd to him, her all alone. Most wolf, and fox demon's have companions with them. But not her, though there wasn't a passing day she wished Kai would come with her. Shaking the thought away, she bit her lip before answering.
"It is also nice to meet you, Raven was it? she thought that is what he had said his name was. Guess she's find out if he corrected her, she had always been bad with names. But she couldn't help it, she did live just with her mother for 28 years of her life. "It's a long story, and I am sure you wouldn't want to hear it. I'll just say, I'm one odd fox!" With that last statement she couldn't help but smile. Her cheeks flushed a little, she always did make herself laugh. Her tail swished a little behind her, she was kinda happy she had met someone new. And it was a bonus that they weren't trying ti kill her, it was refreshing!

"Ah so your a fox demon then." he replied shaking her hand and realizing his error. "I must apologize, for a moment I had taken you for a wolf, which is why I was wondering why you were alone. I'm not used to seeing lone demons." He laughed lightly. "I'm quite fond of long stories actually. After all isn't everything in a persons life just part of one big story?"
Raven felt strange. He had never been so friendly to a stranger before. Who could blame him though? Most demons and humans alike hated half demons. Humans because they were jealous of his power, looks and ability, and demons because they believed in their own superiority. For a half demon, finding friends to him was like suddenly mountains of hidden gold.
"Don't worry about being odd though." he added as he finished his thought. "You might say I get a few stares whenever I go somewhere, where theres other people."

Kensune was taken a back for a moment at him thinking she was a wolf demon. But then again, she could see how he would think that. She did smell of Kai, and the northern tribe. And both fox and wolf demon's resemble each other, even Ayame and she shared similar features. In this it made her glad, she liked knowing she would fit in with the others. She hadn't really ever thought about it till this instent. Returning her thoughts to Raven's words, she took a deep breath before speaking.
"I guess your right, sadly my big story has some rather large holes..." she had a wave of sadness pass through her with those last words. In deed, how she wished she could fill those holes. To know where she came from, who her parents were. Were they out there looking for her still after all this time? No, she doubted it. Demons were different than humans, that much she was sure of. "I know what you mean about stares, that's actually why I keep to the forest. I would rather avoid the unwelcome words and looks from Villagers." she rolled her eyes, the last venture near a village was the worst. She even tried to cover her self, but between her tail and appearance. Alas she was chased out, and decided to remain in the forest for a while.

"Unfortunately where I come from, even a beautiful forest like this wouldn't be good enough." Raven explained to her sadly. "Demons were hunted or enslaved in order to form an army to kill their own kind. Eventually a war broke out and the land was ravaged as a I know just how evil humans can be. Before I grew wings it was easy to hid my eyes and my claws from them. Not so easy now." He shifted his position slightly as he looked up towards the sky. "But that's not to say that all humans are evil. I learned that there are good ones out there as well." He remembered a village he and Merissa had stayed at briefly after the war. It was nice and peaceful there. Merissa had even made friends out of some of the girls that lived in the village. But that was short lived too. Though the fighting had ended there was still strife between the surviving sides and the two siblings did not wish to bring it to a place where for the first time they felt welcomed. "I made a promise to someone a long time ago that if a place existed where half-demons could live peacefully without fear of being hunted or killed that I would find it." His fists closed tightly. "and I intend to keep that promise. It's what's kept me going all these years."

"I hope that you get to fulfill that promise someday!" the words just blurted out of her mouth, before she even had time to take what he had just said all in. She blushed a little, knowing she sounded excited. That was an amazing promise, and how she too wished for such a place. She could understand his pain, and could only imagine again what he must have lived through. She didn't like the idea, the suffering of humans and demons alike. She wished everywhere could be just as simple as it had been with her adoptive mother and her in the forest. No worries, no cares, just peace and just living.
"I am sorry that you had to go through such horrible things." she sighed again, looking down at her feet. "I am sure, compared to you. My life has been easy, I know not all humans are evil. I was blessed to be raised by one of the gentlest, most compassionate woman." quickly a single tear ran down her right cheek, even after the many years. She still cried when thinking about her mother. "So, why are you yourself also alone then? That is, if I may ask?" she didn't want him to see the tear on her cheek, quickly wiping it away. She hoped her question didn't seem rude to him, she meant no offense.

Though she had tried to hide it Raven saw Kensune quickly wipe away the tear on her cheek. This girl has had a hard past as well he thought to himself. She's lost someone too. It must be painful for her to remember such things. He quickly thought of a way to change the topic and smiled. It was a rare thing for him to do, and only one or two people in this world could manage to give him one but he did it all the same.
"Thank you for your words. In truth though I am not alone." He turned towards the south. "That village I mentioned earlier....there is someone waiting for me there. Someone whom I care for very much. Whenever we knew of any villages in the area, she would always go ahead to see what kind of people lived there and what they were like. You see unlike me she can easily pass herself off as a human and therefore could live among them easily. I'm glad that you have had good people in your life. It strengthens my resolve that there could be a hopeful future for demons and humans. That it is not just a dream for children."
He wondered why he was telling all of this to Kensune. Normally by a rule he and Merissa kept to themselves. It wasn't until recently that they had opened up to the world. Merissa had been the one to change him in fact. Raven would have been perfectly fine spending the rest of his life with her in some place like this. Alone in the forest where the outside world wouldn't bother them. Merissa had changed all that. She had made him want more out of life. Want an actual future with people in it.
"From what you've told me though I don't think this village would take to kindly to demons. Half or otherwise." he sighed. "It's been too long since we have found a good welcome anywhere."

(to make the code turn into a picture put [ + IMG + ] at the ends...) "You are correct, they are very unwelcoming. Though I have had a hard time finding any that welcome me, with the obvious fact that I am a full demon. I can hide my ears and markings, but my tail tends to give me away!" Surly it would be hard for anyone to hide big appendages, like wings and a big bushy tail. Kensune had been studing Raven's wings, they interested her. But honestly, Raven himself did the same. He was very unique, and none like she had seen before. Her first thought, and she continued with it. "It is good that you have a companion whom you can work with..." she stopped herself, she heard a noise that caught her attention. She wasn't sure what it was, but it came from the direction behind Raven. "Did you hear that?" she was sure he had to. It sounded almost like someone was quickly running their way, then it stopped. It could have been anything, but she had learned to pay attention to the littlest of things. She made eye contact with Raven, seeing if he had heard the same noise.

"I don't know what I would do with out her." Raven replied. It was true. Younger than him that she was Merissa had saved his life more times than he had hers and he was eternally grateful to her for it. "
Raven's head snapped behind him as he turned towards the sound of movement. He couldn't see much past the trees, but someone had definitely been moving towards them. That was the sound of twigs breaking, of leaves being crushed under someone's foot. Someone who was apparently fast but upon realizing they were being heard, was smart enough to stop moving. He took a few steps to the right and pressed his back against a tree, peering out from the side of the trunk trying to make out where exactly the sound had been coming from. He couldn't see anything but the forest, which had now gone almost eerily quiet. He turned to Kensune and whispered to her.
"Can you see anything? Your hearing is better than mine do you know what it is?"

Kensune peered in the direction the sound had come from, she scanned looking hard. But, she didn't see anything. Knowing her luck they would be attacked by ninja's, and with that thought she giggled quietly to herself. She tried to hide the smile that had appeared on her face, then she snapped back to serious. This wasn't the time to humor herself, someone or something dangerous could be coming their way.
"I can't see anything...." she whispered back to Raven. She closed her eyes, and let her hearing engulf her. Panning to see if she heard breathing, or something that would give the location of the noise away. She only heard Raven and herself. She would not stay in this location, it was time for her to move on. No point in pushing her luck, she opened her eyes to look at Raven.
"I hear nothing that sticks out, but I feel it is good to move from here." she really didn't want to leave so soon, now that had made a new friend. Something in her made her want to ask if she could go with him, and get to know him more. Maybe meet this friend of his, that he cared do much for. She was tired of being by herself, and wondered if the Raven would care to let her tag along."If I may, would you mind if I go with you. Just for a while, I don't really want to by my lonesome when..... I have just made a new friend." She hoped this wasn't too much to ask him. With that last statement she sounded clingy she thought, but it was the truth.
