"Ugh! God! I can smell them burning from here!" Zero commented. "Where in the hell did those guy even get white phospherous from?!" Ghost said. "Standby, another round is on the way, get ready," Rook's voice was heard again. "I don't know how much more of the smell I can take," Ghost commented. "Hold up. No don't hold it like that. Just get that launcher unfuc-," Rook evidently left his radio on. A launching sound soon followed. "OH SH--! MISFIRE! MISFIRE!" a flare was arcing over the group. "Wait......oh hell it's coming right at us!" Zero shouted and hit the dirt as it ignited over himself, Lark and Ghost.
Zero grabbed Lark and was trying to get out of the buring area. "HOLD YOUR BREATH! DON'T BREATH IT IN!" Ghost shouted over everyone else's screams from being burned.

Lark ran with Zero, covering her mouth and nose again, but looked back at the others. She'd dropped her gun when Zero grabbed her arm, but it was for the better technically. She could move faster that way. "Who shot that?!" she asked, her voice muffled by her hand. "Idiot!"

"Ghost! Zero! I'm sorry! The mortar jammed up and it fired when we were trying to fix it!" Rook said over the radio. "Rook! What the hell were you thinking?! Half the things burning out here are our own guys!" Ghost shouted back to the radio. He turned around and raised his rifle. "Sir! Behind you!" he shouted anf fired off four shots. A four-legged dog-looking zombie fell at his feet. "Runners! GO! GO!" Ghost fired more shots off.
Zero gave Lark's arm to Ghost. "Ghost get ther outta here!" Zero said and armed his own G36. "Sir, we have to get out of here and back to the convoy!" Ghost said. "Well we won;t get very far with those runners after us. I'll catch up," he said and downed two runners. "But, sir!" Ghost started. "Ghost, go. Now," Zero said sternly.

"Shouldn't we all stay here and take care of the runners?" Lark asked as she was passed off to Ghost. She wanted to know why these names were used, too, but that HAD to wait. "That way it guarantees all of us getting back." She realized then that he gun was burning with others of their people. Even if it did work, it would be too hot for her to hold. Still, she was determined to stay and help, even if she'd be of little use.

"There's no time to argue, just-" Zero was cut off as a runner pounced on him. Zero kept his arm under it's chin to keep it at bay as it thrashed about. A engine was heard revving and a dirtbike blew through the smoke. The rider produced a G18 and fired at the runner on Zero as the bike passed by and side skidded to a halt.
"Sir! Are you alright?" Ghost got to Zero's side and helped him to his feet. "Yeah, I'm okay," Zero replied and looked in the dirtbike rider's direction. "I hope you're here to help," he said and the rider gave a sharp nod. A hiss was heard and the rider was knocked to the ground by an runner.

"Get it off!" Lark yelled. "Shoot it or something!" She looked around the desert for something she could use as a weapon, seeing as she'd recently become weaponless, but there was nothing but sand. Sand and fire as far as the eye could see. Not even a large rock. She stood there at a loss for motion and words as she watched. Suddenly there was a shreik as a runner was close-lined by a sudden new body amoungst them. Before long the runner was lifeless, the head ripped off and thrown in to another one, knocking it over. The person didn't have any weapons on them either, from what it looked like. Lark's jaw dropped at the shear power of this man. "Too bad there aren't more like you." "My sister is coming up behind them," he said, his voice a near growl. Lark gulped but looked over to the crowd of zombie creatures getting closer. One of the larger ones suddenly toppled over, and a figure appeared on another one before it too fell over. Neither of the creatures were getting back up. Lark's eyes widened and she gazed back over to the man standing before them. He smiled, a single sharp tooth slipping over his lip. She sucked in a breath, and his smiled quickly faded. He looked away from her in that moment, at the runner getting back up which he'd knocked over. "I thought you would appreciate some help." ((I figured Zero would be attending the motorcyclist. ))

A shot rang off far in the distance, and suddenly, half the runner's head was missing. minutes later, a mysterious stranger, who had been upwards of a kilometer away when the shot rang off, walked calmly up to the group. He had a knife abreast, another at a holster just above boot level, a pistol at his left hip and a sniper rifle at his back. he wore a tattered trench coat, each pocket holding a few mags for the rifle. His face was hidden by a black mask and his eyes by tinted goggles. in each hand, he held a small ammo box. "Scraps." he said. "Raided from some other random survivors." He dropped them at Lark's feet. "You do what you gotta do to survive, and i'm going to hell for what i've done. You and your group can have at these. 's about time I did something for someone besides myself. Not only that, but your lot looks promising. The bunch I took these from... they had no chance to begin with." He looked around warily. "Now. Since I gave you ammo, how 'bout you give me some food. I'm tired of biting into live snakes. By the way, name's Victor. Not that you'll ever be able to put a face to it."

Zero was helping the dirtbike rider to their feet. He looked to the distance to see more coming their way. "Tell you what, we get back to the convoy, we'll give you a weeks worth, sound good?" Zero said to Victor while bringing the rider with him. "Sir? Are you sure you want to trust this guy? How do we know he won't shoot while our backs are turned?" Ghost said suspiciously. "He just helped us, that should be enough to at least give him a chance," Zero said.

Victor took his revolver from its holster and began firing at the stragglers. More than once, he had to stop and reload, and with a revolver that took time. Once, during the fight, he nonchalantly removed a syringe from a pouch slung over his shoulder and injected it into his neck, making no comment. Rare were the occasions on which he did not make the planned headshot, but in one of those instances, he barely had time to compensate. He took took his knife out of its sheath with his free hand, dodged as a zombie lunged at his throat, and planted into the zombie's brain with great force. He finished reloading, shot another oncoming undead and pulled his knife out of the one he'd stabbed. The whole while, the expression on his face showed nothing but the will to survive. No fear, no discouragement, no disgust toward the monsters he was gunning down. And nobody could see his nonchalance.

Lark turned around to face the man, Victor, as he stood by her and shot at the zombies with almost perfect aim. Where had he come from? He seemed to have perfect reflexes, but he didn't seem all that nice. Of course they were in need of help, or they were all going to die.
"Watch it!" the female in the mess of zombies called as one of his not-so-perfectly-aimed shots whizzed past her head. "You almost hit me!" Yet she seemed to pay it little attention as to who had done it, as she kept snapping necks and moving with the heard without looking over to the group. They were attacking her too, but none ever got to sink teeth in or scratch her; she was wearing too much leather to be hurt.
Lark picked up the ammo but looked around. "Who needs a fill up?" she asked, glancing at Zero and Ghost. "I can at least help with that."
((Honestly Ace, we're at like, a never ending killing-the-zombies stand still here, we need to move oooonnnnnn lol.))

(I never actually intended for it to be that long, but stuff happened.)
"Are you there? C'mon Zero, don't leave me hanging!" Windows' voice was on the radio. "It's me, Windows, go ahead," Zero answered his radio. "Finally. The evac's complete and we're sending an APC you're way," Windows said. "Did you hear that? We're getting out of here," Zero said. Ghost dropped one more zombie. "It's about bloody time," Ghost said through gritted teeth and turned to lark. "Mag!" he said ejecting his rifle's empty magazine.

"And just where are we going?" Victor asked, figuring everywhere else but a few closed off forts was equally dangerous. "Do you have some kind of headquarters? Are you organized, or just a ragtag bunch of survivors? Hadn't put much thought into it before, but I don't know anything about any of you. Do you have an objective aside from 'survive'? Maybe find a cure? Maybe make one?" There was a tone of excitement in his voice now, almost childish. "Tell me there's a lab where we're going. There's no point in 'surviving' if our days are numbered anyway, and if this isn't stopped, we'll all inevitably be turned eventually. It's true that there are thousands of bullets in the world for every single individual, but what we're doing here? This isn't answer to the problem."

"Is that true? Not a thousand bullets would drop one of these big guys," Lark said to Victor as she ran past him to Ghost, handing him another magazine for his rifle. Her weapon was gone, but it would help them all if someone was there to run them more ammunition. There would be less of a pause in the rounds being pumped into these terrifying beasts.
"Perhaps not," the brother of the female in the battlefield chimed in. "But for every two bullets that could be used to get one of the smaller ones, my sister and I can take out two of the larger ones. As it is, she's doing a good job on her own."
"Who are you two, and where did you come from?" Lark asked. The man smiled apologetically.
"How rude of me," he said with a quick, sweeping bow. "My name is Jesse, and my sister over there, her name is Natalie."
"Nice to make your acquaintance," Natalie said suddenly from behind Lark. "You smell good and innocent." Lark spun and gulped as she took a step back. "No, I didn't mean it that way!" she said quickly, her eyes widening. "I just mean that it's not usual. Hate and other emotions haven't claimed you, that's all! I swear."
