Making her way down an old unused path to the river nearby the small, short lavender haired girl was frantic, every night when her demon side took over she would go loose and go on a killing spree. She reaked of the spilled blood of humans and demons alike and it drove her mad. Lily briskly made her way over to the river, her face, chest, and hands were covered in blood. The very first time it happened, after her father had passed away, Lily clearly recalled waking up and screaming at the sight of all the bodies around her, demon corpses were everywhere, and she was caked in their blood. Over the years she grew less disturbed by it but hated waking up and being covered in the mess Yoru, her other half, left for her in the morning. Dipping her hands into the water she began to scrub feverishly, the images of her father's death coming to mind as she looked down at her shaking hands. Her sad face, was her usual epression, but currently it was more intense than usual.
Lily was a monster, neither human nor demon, but some twisted creature, something that killed her mother at birth, and then her father as a teenager. Her family, all gone and she was responsible in one form or another, Her eyes narrowed at her reflection in the water as she grew angry with herself. why did she have to be the target of disdain and hate from two different worlds? This irritation only made her scrub mre firmly until ever bit of blood was gone from her hands and heading downstream.
The girl didn't know it, but she was across the river from a sleeping demon. He had only just chose this location to rest, under the shade of an old tree. The breeze was blowing a little more then usual. This demon, had sensed the presence of the girl, but chose to ignore it. She didn't pose any threat to him, though he could smell the blood she was trying to wash away. Even so, he laid still, his eyes close tightly to the world around him. No one would dare bother him, not if they knew what was good for them. All the same, he listened to the girls breathing, her heart beat. She had some distress, was she not the cause of the blood he smelled. Shifting only a little, he hadn't seen any trace of life in a long while. He preferred to be by himself, in his misery and loneliness. After all he had seen, and lost in his life time. This was the only path he felt he should follow, that way he wouldn't get hurt again. His story was a long one, and he had seen his share of death. He had lost a wife, a daughter, and his soul mate. He would not allow himself to be hurt again, the only thing he clung to was the ordainment that hung around his neck. It was a gift from his soul mate, and other then his memories. It was the only thing he had to remember her by, and the short time they spent together.
The girl's smell was different then most he had come across, the blood could not mask her natural scent. It was beautiful, though he could not figure out what it reminded him of. His own had been compared to cinnamon, how he missed his beloved mate. Shaking the thought of her from his mind, for it would make his heart ache. He continued to listen to the girl, he didn't know why, maybe because he had been bored. But he let her hold his attention, as she scrubbed the blood from herself. After a few moments, she starting to annoy him, her heart beat. Her presence, her smell, it was his demon self feeling this way. He should leave her be, and he should just mind his own business. No, that wouldn't happen, not with the conflict inside him. His features twitched, and before he knew it. He had wet his lips, and words began flowing from him. The tone was angry, and annoyed.
"Girl, hurry with what your doing, and be gone from here. Your presence, your smell, it's making me sick. Go away!" He was sure this sudden yelling would spook her, as he believed she didn't know he was on the other side of the river. After four hundred and four years, his voice had gained a little bit of deepness. Or was it his present state, his anger, and sorrow. He smirked to himself, she would surely run once she noticed him laying only feet from her. He did not care to look, but she was probably some everyday maiden. She had a smell of a demon mixed in with he sweetness, but he still didn't care to look.
She stopped what she was doing, those words snapped her from her own thoughts as she glared up at the figure in the tree across the river. "Like I have a choice smelling like this, if I annoy you that mush go sleep somewhere else!" she hissed, her deep purple eyes narrowed, she was in no mood to be talk to in such a way. He was amazing to look at, like a few demons, but he still held that arrogant, cocky, self centered attitude that drove her crazy. The young half demon rolled her eyes before looking into the water and splashing some on her face, happy to see it washing off a lot easier. Sighing softly to herself she began to scrub the blood out from the front of her kimono, hoping it wouldn't stain. Looking down at it in defeat, there was a slight faded stain there now. That demon.... why did he have to bother her so? They all seemd to be the same, only concerned about their own little world. "I'm done, so you can have your stupid solitude. Damn demons...." She grumbled before getting to her feet and began to walk down the river, before heading into the forest. Her Frustrated expression returned to that normal sad expression as she looked at her hands, weaving silently though the forest. Feeling like she was alone she lowered her hands and focused on her walking.
Words came to mind that made her want to sing, to express her pain even if no one really listened or cared. So slowly she parted her lips and began a lovely, sad tune. "Everywhere, everywhere, there are people everywhere, looking down, hating me, I have no where to go... Everywhere, everywhere, there are demons everywhere, talking down to me, looking down on me, like I am nothing, no one, an abomination. Where can I go? where do I belong?.... I hate them, I hate them all so much.. They don't, and they don't care, just worried about thier own little worlds... but they're everywhere, everywhere, and I am nowhere..." she trailed off before drawing her blade and angrily cutting clean through a tree, watching pleasantly as it fell to the forest floor, hoping it disturbed that arrogant demon. "take that.... you ass..." she snarled, before continuing on her way.
Kage hand not moved an inch, glad she was gone. He could rest a while longer, without any disturbances. He had enjoyed her scent, but he was glad she stormed off. He wanted to be alone, and that is how he would have it. Deciding he had no where to be, he lay in the tree as the approaching dark came. The many lesser demons who lived in the forest came forth, non interesting in him. They set off looking for humans to pray on, not that there were many around the area. He thought to himself, wondering if the girl had made it very far. Her scent had one faint, and he smiled to himself. She had been feisty, and spirited. It was cute, but either way he was glad she was gone.
Night had greeted dusk, and the stars had come forth. It was a peaceful night, and the tree seemed to have no trouble with Kage. He had opened his eyes to look at the night sky, thinking about his beloved Kagirinai. Swallowing hard, he sighed, blinking his eyes in his sorrow of her memory. Deep in his thoughts, he was alerted by a sound. It was something speeding in his direction, he kept his minds eye on it. It wasn't big, but it was fast. As it moved he could hear the sound of feathers rustling, like that of Kagirinai's when she flew. What was this creature? He waited for it to appear, so he could see if it was a threat or not.
Yoru smirked as se darted out of the darkness, he was there, still there, good. She craved the fight, desired bloodshed, the half demon lept up tendrils fo shadows lashed out at Kages tree, slicing it down as her wings spread open, helping her to glide back. Her hair covered her eyes at the moment, so the only thing that could be seen was her smirk, wide and twisted, like a monster. A feeling of overwhelming hate, and anger could be felt basically oozing from every fiber of her being. She hated him, but not just him, every demon, every human.
All of them, she just wanted them all to die, wanted to wipe them from the continent. The black tendrels shot out at the lesser demons taking them out mercilessly, any that dared to get into her attack range were ripped to ribbons. The solid black ears flicked and followed the sound of Kages breathing, and she just let out a soft, laugh that was laced with her emotions. When a lesser demon reached her, she simply grabbed one by the face and sent it hurling into the shadow like tendrils that danced around her, watching pleasantly as they were ripped to shreds. She then drew she blade, the bone glowing in the moonlight before the slice right through another. "Care to play? You are interesting for a demon, and I haven't had anyone interesting to play with in some time." She chuckled, her voice was beautiful, and wild, as her emotions threatened to overwhelm her words.
Kage faded just as the wild demon sliced the tree he had been perching in. Who did she think she was, crazy, to attack him for no reason. He felt his heart sear with anger, he didn't want to fight. He just wanted to be left alone, couldn't anyone understand that! Relieving his iron claws, he had faded behind the demon girl. He words were running through his head, no, in fact he didn't want to play. He would get rid of her, and go back to his normal day to day life. This girl, though pretty, was so young. She knew not who she was dealing with, he wasn't just some demon. After a moment, he lunged at the girl. Trying to do her in one swipe, an angry frown covered his face.
"Girl, you should have let me be." His voice sounded sad, like he had just done something horrible. It was apparent he wasn't happy, and he decided to respond to her as he went to give her the death she had unintentionally asked for. He didn't realize it, but he had closed his eyes as he lunged at the girl. Maybe not wanting to see another women die, and because of him, he felt!?
Swiftly Yoru darted away her movements were almost like she was dancing in the darkness. her gohstly white skin gave a lovely glow in the moonlight as she moved her hair to the side. "....I would have never noticed you if you just left me, or rather my other half alone earlier." She brushed a hand moving her hair from her eyes as she stared fiercly at Kage, her features were between cat and fox like, giving her a very exotic look. Taking notice of his tone her ears twitched as her eyes narrowed. "So.... you shouted at her because of your own misery? how typical." she snarled, a flicker of her own misery in her voice, the tendrils seemed to fade away, she had no interest in attack him in such a way. Sheathing her bloodied blade she took notice of his glinting claw weapons and gave a small smile. "come now don't attack me with your eyes closed, it's no fun that way. Express everything you feel and fight me." She said in a calmer, almost sad tone, desperate to shove her emotions back, to let the exhiliration of killing, of fighting to free her from her thoughts. This time she charged at him, taking a swift and powerful swipe at him, Yoru wanted to rlease all her pain but no matter how much she made the world suffer it never seemed to be enough.
"I don't wish to fight with you child! I wish to be left alone!" He had grown tired of her game, and growled at her with the sentence. He simply side stepped, and faded a little bit away from her. He turned and looked at her. What did she want, blood? Was she just bored? He was not interesting in her game, and did not care if he offended this other half she spoke of. What did she mean anyway, that this child in front of him was the maiden from before. He shook his head, and dropped his claws, he had no will. Not tonight, he didn't have the fight left in him. He had fought long and hard after Kagirinai died, killing all that he saw. Angry at the world, but after twenty five years, he had grown tired. Not wanting to live, let alone fight this annoying creature in front of him.
"What do you want from me, an apology? Are you simply bored? Tell, me, then leave me in peace woman!" He had lost the anger, it had gone just as fast as it arrived. He hadn't eaten, he hadn't done anything. He had no energy, he was a poor excuse for a demon. And he knew it, but he didn't care. His eyes were dull, and he in some was wished he would allow himself to be killed. So then, maybe he would be reunited with mate. His breathing was weathered, fading had become hard for him. He waited for an answer, not really interested in this fight.
Yoru stopped, and turned around to face Kage, he was already exhausted. His heavy breathing, his mannerism, all of it made her desire for fighting him widdle away. Though the young demon never stopped glaring at Kage, her voice was softer as the black faded from her hands. The word alone seemed to really take affect on her. "why..... would anyone wish to be alone so willingly? It's hard enough having no choice." Though the expresion faded from her face, torment replaced it. She was trying to deal with her torment by fighting, to hide it, to shove it away. "I don't want your appology, no appology can fix what I am... though if you don't eat, you'll become food for those lesser demons.." Turning away before he could see any emotion on her face she took off into the trees, she had returned to this region originally to visit her family's grave. to put fresh flowers there and to morn silently. He.... had just caught her attention, and fighting was her first reaction.
Stopping in a small field she picked a couple of night lilies and headed to the remains of the village and her home. Her eyes softened as she placed flowers on their graves, this place has been abandoned years ago and deemed cursed because of Yoru's wrath on the humans who rejected her and showed her such disdain. If they had just accepted her, treated her like a part of the village, things would have been different. Tears began to fill her eyes, as her right hand went into her messy shadowy black hair. If they had just accepted her, her father would still be alive. a mixture of pain, self loathing, and rage filled her face and she screamed out loudly, letting her voice travel for miles, not caring who heard or if anyone came. It all jsut hurt too much.
Her words made him gain a look of slight surprise, she had changed her mind so quickly. Though she was right, he did need to eat. But what, maybe some fish. Then before he knew it she had turned, and took off into the trees. Once she had gone, he hit his knees. Sitting on his heels, he slouched over, holding himself up with his hands. He crawled to the shore of the river, and without a second thought, fell in. It wasn't very deep, but felt good against his skin. Many creatures lived in the river, and as he sat in the bed. Some of the many fish surrounding him decided to get a closer look, and in that, he snatched a few up. Eating them raw, then suddenly he heard a scream. It was a angry one, and it made Kage stop chewing. It was a few miles away, but he turned his attention back to what he was doing.
Soon enough, he had eaten his fill. He felt some of his energy return, and he slowly stood up. He was still alone, and so he decided he was going to enjoy himself. Pulling his shirt off, and then his pants. He stripped, throwing his cloths on the shore. Then he sunk back into the running river water. This was something he hadn't done in a long time, to feel free. Not caring who was around him, he would just relax in to cold water. Allowing it to flow past him, and to ease his weak body. Kagirinai would be angry at him, for allowing himself to get this way. He knew it, but it still didn't mellow the sorrow he felt. He sat in the river for what seemed like an hour or so, then arose, and headed to the shore.
Yoru had grown tired of wallowing in her own self pitty and had moved along, she was still furious, but her face had mellowed out, she was passing by in some trees, following the same familiar scent of demon blood she had spilled earlier, using it as a sense of direction to follow. That's when, in mid jump she noticed Kage in the river, without clouded emotions, he was... something. Her eyes traveled and her face turned a dark red before she smacked into a tree. Reaching up quickly she grabbed a branch and pulled herself up, rubbing her red, sore, and sensitve nose. before shouting irritably. "who the hell strips and lays in a river?! Throw some clothes on, by the gods!" She said glaring off into the distance, her face still rather red from looking at him so closely.
Kage walked out into the chilly night air, not paying attention to anything. Then he heard Yoru's words, and spun around to her direction. Modesty wasn't his thing, and he wasn't ashamed of himself. "So, you have come back to bother me again?" His words sounded cocky, the small amount of energy he had, would keep him going for a while. He still wore a frown on his face, but their was hint of humor in his tone. Looking at his cloths, he slowly got dressed. The air would be too much, he would soon look like a little boy if he remained nude. Once he finished dressing, he sat down by the once tall tree that the girl sliced to bits. He in a way hoped she would go away, but something about her interested him.
"...Why don't you hate me like the others?" she said, softly remaining perched on the branch, A hint of confusion in her voice. All the demons she had met up until this point wouldn't hesitate to kill her simply because her existance was a disgrace. "OR perhaps you don't even know." Her piercing red eyes glanced back at him. "I was following the path I was going, I wasn't expecting you to be here." The company, was oddly comforting, even if it was with a toally clueless demon. She hopped down and in an instant was really close to him, His change in attitude had her deeply curious, her soft black ears focused on him as she studied him closely. She backed up a bit and put a hand on her hip, a small smirk on her face. "To really answer your question from earlier, it was nothing really that you did.... I just hate demons, and I have my reasons." This demon really confounded her, he was so different from most she encountered, almost human in some ways, and seemed to be rather miserable. What was his story? What was this pain that made him so, lathargic like earlier?
Yoru sat down in front of him and looked away, first to the river and then to the sky, it would be morning in a few hours, and surprisingly she felt at ease, despite her sore nose which she still rubbed occassionally. The thought of why she smacked into the tree made her cheeks redden, who on earth does something like that in such an open place? "I will... not bother you, Just let me enjoy this company for a little bit, I'll be on my way after dawn." Her voice held a hint of deep loneliness, it often drove her mad, making her lash out and crave something that would shove the feeling down.
"I have no reason to hate you girl, and I don't care to know." His voice not changing in tone, it was true. Watching as down from the trees, and gave him such a silly answer to his angry question from earlier. "So you hate your own kind, and I am sure you do have your own reasons." he looked at the sky, then back down at her. Her words, her voice, it didn't annoy him like the other girl. "Stay as long as you like, just no attacking me, and getting me riled up!" The fish he had eaten had done more then just give him a little bit of energy, which was good. Maybe he would get back on track, his weeks of sorrow and depression always almost kill him. He knew something was wrong with him, but he wasn't sure what. "You know, not many people have Seen me unclothed, hope you liked what you saw." With that he let out a rather loud laugh, which he hadn't done in ages. It was the sound of her smacking the tree, that brought the laugh on. It was very comical, and he would enjoy this laugh. He was sure the statement would embarrass her, and that made it even more better.
Her face turned a dark red at his last comment, and his laugh. She turned her head slightly to look at him. Instead of glaring, there was a hint of shyness in her eyes before she looked down. "....Well you're definitely easy on the eyes, so yes." she admitted before looking at the spot she saw him standing rather nude. "I am neither human nor Demon.." the word abomination crossed her mind and made her frown, her ears laid back on her head. She should not exist, she did not belong, there was no place for her in this world, and she knew there was nothing here fro her in this world. The only person who truly cherished her, she killed, she was a monster and knew this well. This was a burden she had to bare, and do so alone. His teasing was a nice distraction as was the sight she saw before. Yrou had never been with a man, so to see one so well toned, scarred, and dream like made her heart flutter a bit.
Kage had stopped his laughter for a moment, as he processed her saying he was easy on the eyes. He cared not what she was, she herself was easy on the eyes. He watched as she dropped her ears, and a frown crossed her face. He quieted himself, and after a moment the frown matched her's. "Why do you look so sad? I will listen, if you care to speak, and I promise not to judge. I myself have done many things I am not proud of, and lost many that were close to me." He raised his eyebrow, he was starting to sound like an old man. He didn't like that fact, but it happened, no changing it now. He looked the girl from top to bottom, her ears and wings made her look like a demon. But she said her other half earlier, he had to know what she meant by that. He shifted himself, so he could give her his whole attention. Quietly waiting to see if she would take his offer, or if she would not. In the case of the other, then maybe he should talk a little. Seeings how she liked his company, and he didn't mind entertaining at the moment.
Why did he seem so convincing, why would any of this matter to him. "... I was born to a mortal woman, my birth was the cause of her death, and my father... was a demon. I do not belong to either world, both reject and hate me, viewing me as an abomination." She started softly glaring at her own reflection in the water, it wasnt liek she could help what she was, but despite that she was simply beaten down for it. "I get so angry....I lose myself, I let the madness consume me and take my hurt otu on humans and demons alike." She continued, leaving bits out, like how she was responssible for her father's own death. "I am one person by day, but at night I am me... endlessly trapped, and lost.." she finished, turning her head and looking back at Kage, wondering how he would respond, would he understand why she was unstable, and so very hurt and angry.
"I can tell you now girl, you are not an abomination in my eyes." He was serious to her thinking that of herself, no matter what she had done. She would ever come close to being anything that fit that word. He also understood what it was like to be so full of rage, that you lose control. She was just a lost girl, who needed someone who understood. He wasn't in any position to fill that card, but he would try his best to console her. He wondered how she could be one person by night, and one by day. This puzzled him, but such things were only the norm in the demon world. Not reason to question how, it just was. "I understand what it's like to be that way, and I am sorry you have had to live day to day like that. Dear girl, I know it might mean nothing. I am some demon, that you don't know. If I could give you anything, it would be friendship, if you wanted it." He was surprised by his own words, but he had meant them.
