"It would be good to keep the restaurant in the family, don't you think?" Keera asked, swinging her leg around and off the motorcycle. She pulled the helmet off held it about an arms length away from him, and took a step closer. "Well thank you. Will I see you around?" In the back of her mind she wondered why she bothered. He was obviously a human, and would die before she looked even a year older. She'd disappear and come back when he was old and frail, and she'd look exactly the same. If she came back. Still, something pulled her to the area, and she wanted to know why, or what it was.

"Yeah, if you decide to stick around," Korben said, taking the helmet from Keera. "By the way, you believe me, about something else besides that shark being out there, don't you?" Korben asked. Even though he had only caught a glimpse of what it was, he knew what he saw. Unless he was delirious from facing a near-death experience.

She thought about it for a moment, considering the options. If she told him that he was right, then he might ask her what it really was, and how she knew. How neither of the men caught on to her talking to the dolphin she didn't know. She had done it purposely. However if she told him she didn't believe him, he'd think he was crazy, even maybe that she was lying to him. It would before his own good if she did.
"Yes, I believe you," Keera replied with a smile, bowed her head slightly and gazed up at him before walking into the restaurant. They would talk later, once she figured out exactly what that had been down there. She might even have to go down there herself. If it were a demon, she could talk to it, and see why it interfered - to what purpose. What Korben someone important that a demon would save him? She looked back before the door closed to catch one more glimpse of him.

"Well, good to know someone does," Korben said and put the visor on his helmet down. "See you around," he said and he sped away. He arrived back home to his brother sitting on the living room couch smoking a bong. "Sup, Korben?" he strained while exhaling smoke. "Not much," Korben replied. "Except for almost becoming shark food," he said while on his way up the steps. "Coo,coo," his brother said absent-mindedly. Korben looked around the corner. "Johnny, how long have you been smoking that?" he asked.
"Hello, welcome to the 'Sunset and Camden," the hostess greeted Keera when she walked in. "Would you like a table, a booth, or would you like to sit at the bar?" she asked.

Keera hummed as she looked over the options. Sitting in a booth would give her the utmost privacy, and sitting at a table wasn't really her style, but sitting at the bar would bring about more coversation, if the host or hostess willingly obliged. At that point she glanced at the booth, and then decided. "I'd like to sit at the bar, thank you," she said with a smile. "What do you have to drink here?" she asked while sitting down.

"I don't know, I lost track," Johnny said as he tooka nother hit. "Never mind, do you at least know where dad is?" he asked. "Yeah, he's at Atrie's for a get-together or something," Johnny said. "Alright," Korben said and went straight to the shower. He just stood under the stream staring off, not able to get what he'd seen out of his mind. Come to think of it, he'd seen something similar, but he couldn't put his finger on where....
"Oh we have a variety of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, or we have water either tap or bottled," the hostess said as she showed Keera to the bar.

Keera sat down with a smile, thinking. Did she really want to have an alcoholic drink here? She was sure she wasn't allergic, but she hadn't drank any before. She was used to drinking things that would kill humans and other demons, a drink that decayed even flowers with barely a drop. How bad could one drink be? "Do you have, umm..." she thought for a moment. There was sake, but she didn't much like the smell of it. The only other thing she'd heard of was rum. So it was. "Do you have rum? I'm not sure what to mix with it, so what ever you think would be best, I'll try."

Korben finally got out of the shower after the water had been cold for a while. He went to his room, put some clothes on and flopped down backwards onto his bed. He was shortly followed by his cat, who rubbed his head against Korben's shoulder. "Yeah, thanks Jones," Korben said, stroking Jones under his chin. Korben sighed and closed his eyes.
"Oh, I have just the thing, shug," an elderly woman behind the bar said. "I'll start you off with a Cuba Libre. It's a mix of rum and cola if ya' still fancy trying it," she offered.

"Alright, I'll try that," Keera said softly, standing for a moment to put up her hair in a tight, high ponytail, her bangs and some loose strands framing her face. Even with her hair up it was nearly to her knees, so she swept it to one side before sitting back down.
She had no idea what cola was, or what rum tasted like, but she would find out very soon. She hoped she wouldn't have to opt out and settle for a tea. She knew what alcohol did to humans and even half demons. Most full demons were opposed to it, but that was because, like she, they only ate things humans could not. It wasn't to say they couldn't stoop down and eat and drink the same, it generally was just a preference.

(I've had a Cuba Libre before: It's pretty sweet, but that mostly comes from the rum, you can barely taste the cola, all it does is add a bit of fizziness to it.)
"Dang, shug. How do you keep hair that long lookin' so sleek?" the elderly woman asked as she slid a glass full of a caramel-colored drink across the bar. It stopped in front of Keera, not a drop spilling. "There ya' go, one Cuba Libre," she said.
"Hey! Stella! We're almost outta salt! Remind me to make a run after we close tonight!" an elderly man called from the kitchen after he stuck his head out the pickup window.
As Korben took a nap, he had the same dream he had before waking up this morning. The only difference was that once the gyser died down, a water-shimmered silhouette turned his his direction and beckoned him to come to it. Korben stepped forward and the silhouette turned away to reveal the bouey where Korben was attacked, then spoke:
"Will you accept?" it's voice was feminine, with a resonating echo to it's voice.

((So that's what that's called lol. I always refer to it as a 'rum and coke' because I never knew the name.))
"I'm in the water a lot," Keera said with a smile. Her ear twitched as the man yelled from somewhere in the back. She didn't look back at him. These times were much different from back when demons scoured and destroyed the earth. She did a fair job at keeping herself looking and acting like a human, and did the rest of her extended family around Japan and elsewhere.
"Thank you," Keera said she watched the glass slide to her, like the lady had done it a million times. Her instant reaction would have been to grab it while it slid, but instead lay her hand on the counter, ready for it to slid into her hand. It stopped just before, so Keera smiled and took it, raising the glass to her nose. She inhaled, noting the sweet scent if gave off, intriguing her and coaxing her to take a sip. The glass came to her lips, and she took a sip. "Mmm," she hummed, before realizing she had done it. "It's spectacular."
She was unaware of her surroundings, knowing humans weren't that dangerous to her, and demons rarely came out anymore. Most of them were gone, and the ones who didn't look human were in very safe hiding around the globe. She didn't have to know every detail anymore unless she was at home where her kingdom once again thrived and had been rebuilt by her own hand.
Her mind travelled back to the man that ordered everyone around. If he knew who he'd been talking to at the dock, he'd have run scared of her. Then probably back a military to try and eliminate her. That would have been bad. She hadn't kept up with their technology either. That last thing she'd known of them making was the rifles that had to be reloaded everytime it was shot, and canons that also functioned the same, though with a fuze, last time she checked.

Korben's eyes opened again and he took a look over at his clock, quite a bit of time had passed and the sun was starting to set. Korben slowly sat up, earning a curious meow from Jones. "It was that same dream, but something was different," Korben thought out loud. Come to think of it, that silhouetted figure in the dream looked errily familiar. Then it struck him, that was the same figure he saw in the water. But why would it want me back at that bouy? he thought as he tried to make sense of it all.
"Yeah, me and Petey back there've been running this joint for going on fourty years now," Stella said to Keera as she was wiping the bar with a rag. "The place was really bustling back when we first opened up," Stella continued. "We didn't get many customers at first, 'cuz Pete couldn't even boil water when we stared!" Stella joked.
"Yeah, yeah, keep talking," Pete said from in the kitchen.

"Yes, well it's a good thing you've managed to keep such a place in good shape," Keera replied, tracing her index finger over the bar top in the shape of a crescent moon. "Do you know Korben? Or what the... um, mayor, I suppose he is, was doing around here today?"

"Korben? Oh, you mean Jake's kid. Yeah I know him, his family was one of our regular customers back when his momma was still alive," Stella said, closing a beer tap after the mug was full and slid it to a man at the end of the bar. "If you're talking about Graves when you say 'mayor', well that guy's always got a baseball bat up his ass over something," Stella said, showing no bones about her disdain toward Graves. "Though from what I hear, Jake's in debt to Graves and Graves sometimes uses Korben when Jake's not available,"
(You're not going to beleive this, but when I tried to post earlier, an internet diagnostic screen came up just as I hit 'Post Reply'. Bad Luck...)

"Oh, well that's nice of him," Keera said, a sarcastic tone evident in her voice. "So who is this Graves person anyhow?" She took a larger sip from the glass, and eyed the man down the bar for a moment. The place was pretty quiet, and she knew he was listening to the conversation. "I suppose it's none of my business," she started, looking back at Stella. "I'm only visiting, after all. I guess I'm just curious."
