When Worlds Collide

[skyacezero]

The teen slowly moved his hand away from in front of his eyes. After they adjusted, he was horrified at what he saw. He saw her motionless figure on the floor, and standing over her was the one who had betrayed her, betrayed them all. His eyes darted around to see his friends in the same state, then he focused his gaze on the betrayer.

"Why...." the teen started. "She was your your sister, she trusted you! We all did!" he yelled, his hand clenching into a fist. "So why?! Why are you doing this?!" he demanded.

The betrayer turned their gaze to the teen with a hint of sorrow in their eyes. "You would never understand, nor could you understand," they said in melancholy. "I am sorry, I truly am....but this is how it must be," the finished and a figure flew down from the ceiling and landed in front of the teen and kicked him into the wall.

As the teen recovered the figure approached him. "I finally have you...." it said with a resonating echo to it's voice. "Don't worry..." it said as it lifted it's scythe. "After this, we'll be together forever, and I'll take good care of you," it finished and brought it's scythe down.....


Some Time Earlier...


A small white creature was running through the woods, scrambling over obstacles and looking left and right.

Hello? Are you here? it called out telepathically. Leaping onto a branch, it slowed to a stop and looked down. It had found who it was looking for.

There you are, even with telepathy, you weren't easy to find, it said, leaping off the branch and sitting in front of the person.

(In my haster to geth this stared I left out the opening I wanted to use and yes it is supposed to be ambiguous to prevent some spoilers and to create build-up. Oh and if you're familiar with it, the white creature is Kyubey from Madoka Magica.)

[Remus]

The figure swooped down from the sky and landed on one of the upper most branches of the tree, folding his wings behind him in the process. Crimson feathers ruffled slightly in the breeze as he lifted his head towards the stars. Golden orbs reflected the cold fires of the night sky as he stared up at the moon in wonder.

so long....

Just how long had it been? Decades? Centuries? How long had that man kept him trapped and bound deep under the earth, far away from his kingdom under the ocean. Bound and kept in a state of eternal sleep far away from any who could ever free him. and what was it that freed him in the first place? An earthquake? Something bigger? Perhaps an event on some larger scale. Either way he was free. He tilted his head back and forth, stretching his neck and running a hand through his short cropped hair which matched the color of his wings. His body didn't feel as if he had his full strength back but it would in time. Everything he had planned would come to pass in time.

His name was Alastair Mehrune, and he had much work to do. Looking down at the ground he jumped quickly from the branch he was standing on and landed lightly on the ground on the tips of his toes. The world had changed much in his time away. Humans outnumbered demons by far and had even gone so far as to start to build their own primitive settlements. Though a demon himself Alastair showed no preference to either side of the battle. To him anyone could either be a friend or an ally. It all depended on their usefulness and how long it could be used.

A strange sensation overcame him. It was almost felt like a buzzing, a voice if you will inside his head. A soft voice filled his head, blocking out all his other thoughts.

"Hello? Are you here?"

Alastair looked around him. The woods were silent. Not a soul around him, but that wasn't exactly true. He sensed it's presence close by. As if responding to it's own question the creature landed before him from somewhere above. Alastair stared at it. It was a tiny thing, white with red eyes and a long tail. Alastair found it almost irritatingly cute.

There you are, even with telepathy you weren't easy to find. the creature spoke and yet it didn't. The voice he was hearing did not come from the creatures mouth. It was inside Alastair's very head.

"Who are you?" Alastair asked cautiously. "How is it you are in my head?" He felt nervous. Could the so called royal family that had trapped him so many years ago discovered his release already? Was this their emissary? He needed to know.

"But most important of all, why were you looking for me?"

(ooc: Thought I would finally put Alastair in a rp. He's fun to work with because no one really knows if he's a good guy or a bad guy. Rough around the edges and a brilliant battle tactician. The kind of guy who was born with a sword in his hand. But does he have a soft side? Who knows! )

As I said, through telepathy The creature said, cocking it's head to the side inquisitively. It's how I found you and how I'm speaking to you now it finished and straightened it's head out.

My name is Kyubey and I was sent here by my master to find you and take you to her domain Kyubey said as his tail swished back and forth behind him. She said it would be easier to explain everything in person so we probably ahouldn't keep her waiting he said and a portal opened behind him. Kyubey turned to enter it and looked at Alastair over his shoulder. I know this seems sudden, but she did say it was important

[Remus]

Alastair hesitated. It was through a portal that he came to these lands. A world of destruction and constant war where all it's inhabitants knew was that in order to live you had to fight. The people who sealed him...could they be behind this. Kyubey had mentioned a master but had not given him a name. It would be better to find out more about her before he decided to make a move against anyone.


"Very well then." He briskly walked past Kyubey and stood in front of the portal. From this side he could not see what lay at the other end. Reaching out he touched the surface. It was warm and vibrating slightly. Alastair did not get an odd feeling from it. He turned back towards Kyubey before stepping into the portal. "I'm curious to see what your master has to say."

Alright then, follow me Kyubey said and entered to portal with Alastair in tow. The portal had taken them to the center of a vast white room with Victorian-style architecture. The door at the far end opened and from it emerged a woman in a white dress. She had a benevolent air about her and she approached Alistair and Kyubey.

"Kyubey, you made it back," she said when she reached the two.

Yes and I brought Alistair like you told me to Kyubey said, to which the woman looked at Alistair.

"Alistair Mehrune, it's nice to finally meet you," she said pleasantly. "My name is Cosmos, I am the Planekeeper of the Secondary Realm," Cosmos said, introducing herself. "No doubt you have a few questions, I'm sure,"

[Remus]

The world that had opened around him was not one he was expecting. It was not a place of fire and destruction that was his world, nor was it the aquatic greens and blues of that family that nearly killed him, but it was royalty all the same. Alastair knew. Superiority was something you did not have to see to recognize.

Alastair heard the sound of a door opening and turned to the front of the room. A woman was standing in front of it. Her white dress flowed as she made her way over to them.

"Kyubey you made it back" she said greeting her cat-like friend. She then introduced herself to Alastair as Cosmos, followed by some long title that he really didn't understand. "No doubt you have a few questions, I'm sure." He did indeed.

"First." Alastair said crossing his arms. "How did you come to know of my existence. I have not walked the land your friend took me from for a long, long time and even then I was still a newcomer to it." He stared at her fully as he would any other. To him, even if she were the creator of all of existence he would not put himself beneath her. "Second." he said putting up two fingers. "You introduced yourself as planekeeper of the secondary realm. What does that entail? Do you control only this space we are in now or are you a master of a much large domain?"

"and lastly..."

He suddenly took a step back and stared right into Cosmos's eyes while a hint of a smirk appeared on his face, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Lastly and most importantly, why have you summoned me?"

[skyacezero]

Cosmos simply smiled. "Fair enough questions I suppose," she said and raised a finger. "First, I have always known of you're existence, which leads to answer your second question," Cosmos said as she raised her second finger. "I do not control any part of any domain, rather I am more of an overseer than an actual master. It is my duty to know what is happening in any part of the secondary realm, and when necessary, ensure that the status quo does not deviate too far from it's intended path," she explained and lowered her hand.

"As for your third question...." she trailed off to a more grim tone. "I need your help," Cosmos waved her hand and the room went dark and turned into a display of the night sky. "For the past few days, I noticed that stars began to go out one by one," she said, several stars in the display extinguishing to illustrate her point. "Each of these stars is another world in the secondary realm, more specifically the Animeverse, the most expansive part of the secondary realm," she continued. "What this means is that each of these worlds are being actively destroyed and the troubling part is that I do not know who or what is behind it,"

One lead we have is that at around the same time these worlds started to be destroyed, I detected a massive energy spike in the Primary Realm Kyubey chimed in and the display changed to a solar system. What we want is for you to come with me to the Primary Realm and investigate the source of the energy spike

[Remus]

Alastair was somewhat troubled by Cosmos's words. His people to long ago divined prophecies from the stars in order to foretell future events like the outcome of certain battles or whether or not someone would live or die. The fact that there were multiple domains was less surprising. Had he not now just stepped into the third realm in his lifetime?

"So what I understand is. You need me to route out the source of this energy that is destroying the different worlds, and erase it's existence before it causes any more damage the larger realm around it?" He gazed at the stars for a few moments. Even if he declined Cosmos's offer this thing would eventually come to a world that he was in. If he were to be in a fight he would rather take the option that would reap him the larger reward.


"The primary realm huh? Sounds like an interesting place. If what your looking for is indeed there, I should be able to find it no problem."

[skyacezero]

"Thank you, Alastair," Cosmos smiled. "Of course I do not expect you to do this out of the kindness of your heart. When this ordeal has been dealt with I will see to it you are compensated accordingly,' Cosmos said reassuringly while Kyubey opened another portal.

Alright, follow me through Kyubey instructed as he approached the portal. A word of forewarning though. While we're in the Primary Realm, stay close and do exactly as I say. The Primary Realm is a lot different than most other realms you're probably used to... Kyubey warned.

[Remus]

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Alastair said with a bit of a smirk. He stretched his neck and then cracked his knuckles. "Besides whatever this thing is, it sounds as if it will give me a good fight. It's been a few thousand years since I last had a chance to stretch my wings, this will be the perfect warm up."

Kyubey had opened the portal with a bit of words of warning for Alastair. He knew the dangers of other realms before. There were realms where the sky was choked with ash and the ground was pure fire, and realms where blood was the only currency you paid in. He gestured towards Kyubey.

"As you wish, lead the way."

[skyacezero]

Kyubey entered the portal with Alistair in tow, when they emerged from the other side, the air felt heavier to them, in fact, something about the world itself felt wrong, almost out of place. They had emerged into an alleyway and across from it, there were people interacting with strange creatures, most of which Alistair had never seen before. Some of them looked almost identical to each other were it not for differences in body type and height.

Okay, we're here Kyubey said as he leapt into Alistair's arms and went limp. I can sense the source from somewhere in that crowd, just do as head where I tell you and we should find it Kyubey said.

On one of the structures across from the alley, there was a banner hanging off of it:

[Remus]

The moment he entered the world, Alastair could tell it was wrong. Felt wrong. Even the air seemed bad, not as if it were evil but almost as if it were...unclean in a way. The buildings were tall, taller than any Alastair had ever seen before. They stretched higher than the clouds it seemed until they touched the very heavens above. He doubted even the richest and most powerful of his kind back home could ever build such structures. The people for that matter where even more alien. They were similar yes, but also different in small subtle ways. Alastair wondered if they were human or demon. From them, they gave off almost no identifying auras. At least none he could feel.

Kyubey had leapt into his arms. Alastair held the little creature as it talked to him directing him where to go. Alastair looked over the crowed rot the large sign above them.

"Ani...me Expo..." he whispered curiously into Kyubey's ears as he walked forward towards the crowd. "What sort of devil place is this?" He tried to avoid getting close to anyone while at the same time tried to observe the actions of everyone. Was it the strange power Kyubey and Cosmos had mentioned that made this place feel the way it did? He didn't like it. Not at all.

(I think we're in Kansas now Toto! lol. Bringing anime characters into the human world AT a convention. Brilliant!)

This is the Primary Realm Kyubey said. This Anime Expo is a convention where humans dress up as fictional characters and interact with each other Kyubey further explained. Think of it as a kind of gathering for enthusiasts Kyubey finished explaining. Hold on, we're close to it....

"Okay, just hold that pose aaaaaand....got it, thanks!" a young boy said after taking a group picture of Kill la Kill cosplayers. He was a bit on the short side, with shortish brown hair and hazel eyes with a fair complexion. He turned around to continue looking for more cosplayers to photograph when he spotted a winged man holding a Kyubey plushie. "Wow, that's gotta be the most realistic costume here," he said to himself as he approached the winged man. "Hey, excuse me! Is it okay if I got a picture of you?" he asked with his smartphone out.

What? Kyubey's eyes shifted to the boy who had approached them. Alistair, it's him! He's the source! Kyubey alerted Alistair.


(Well, Kyubey's pretending to be a stuffed animal and as you can see, Alistair can be mistaken as a cosplayer. A convention would be the only place in the world they would be the least conspicuous.)

[Remus]

The flashy, clicky things got on Alastair's nerves. Clearly the humans here had little to no threat to bother them in this world as to gather in such a large group let alone approach him. A particular boy had run up to him holding one of the mysterious devices many of them kept holding up to them. He complimented Alistair on his appearance as if he were a part of the other weirdly dressed humans of this place. Kyubeys voice was suddenly in his head frantic as the boy got closer.

He couldn't understand it. This was the source that they had sent him to deal with? This boy felt no different from any of the others. Could he be using the crowd to mask his power?

What's the plan? Alastair asked in his head. It's not like I can attack him right here in the middle of everything. I doubt Cosmos would approve of me leveling this entire area.

The boy seemed to want what all the others wanted. That piktchure thing. From observing the others Alastair assumed it was a way to trap his visage on the boys device. They posed in front of it, most smiling, others striking poses they thought were amusing.

"Why certainly." Alastair told him. His wings suddenly unfurled and spread out on either side of him and he tried to put on a face that looked dangerous but not altogether menacing. He felt like a fool standing there with Kyubey in his arms.

I could follow him. Wait till he's alone. Or I could get him to follow me somewhere.... There's to many people here. I can't get a proper sense of him.

[skyacezero]

The boy stepped back out of surprise. "Whoa, that's a pretty impressive costume," he said regaining his composure. He brought his phone up and looked at it. "Nice just hold that aaaaand...." the device flashed and make a snapping sound. "Alright, thanks!" he said as he walked off in another direction.

Alistair, hold on let me try to reach him Kyubey said. Hey, can you hear me? You just took a picture of someone with wings? Kyubey directed his telepathy at the boy. The boy stopped and looked around.

"What was that? the boy thought and kyubey heard him.

He responded, good Kyubey said. Turn around, you see the guy you just took a picture of? The guy holding the stuffed animal? Follow him into that alleyway over there. Don't ask, just trust me on this Kyubey instructed.

Okay, Alistair, go back to the alley we came out of, less eyes to worry about Kyubey said to Alistair.
