Hello fellow InuYasha fans ^^ I can only hope that I've arrived to a warm welcome.
I'm here mostly to look for 1x1 role plays with a nice Sesshomaru role player, and while I see that there is a strict rule against hentai, does that mean there is a strict rule against sexual activity at all? I can only assume everyone here is at least teenaged so in a way it baffles me that there is a 'no cursing rule'... and a rule of that sort would lead me to believe that there are somehow a bunch of children here who are somehow fine with slaying demons, violent fights, religious power, and the flat out murder of individuals if there are demons, but feel the need to cry if someone uses a 'wordy dird'.
And so in a sense, this forum's rules baffle me.

Hey Axel, welcome to IYRP! As for your question, I don't think sexual activities is all together banned completely, (I'll make sure to ask our leader Mini on that one.) Most if not all of us here are adults, I think the only reason for it is because we are open for younger rpers as well and don't want to risk anything. I suppose a slight warning in the title of the thread or perhaps even a separate board for more mature rps could be done. I would like that idea as my two main OOCs have a really weird relationship with each other. Anyways it's nice to meet ya. Hope you like everything so far. I'll see what I can do to better answer your question.

I'll see what I can do to better answer your question. Everything seems rather nice, if not rather dead for something that's been up for eleven years apparently. My own OC's aren't terribly clean of mind, so I was hoping. As far as the whole 'younger user' demographic, I understand that children apparently still need protection, but honestly...with a place like the internet, censorship seems really difficult...almost redundant. . As far as a mature board being made, if there are in fact whiny little kiddies that giggle or point a finger at a curse word written somewhere, then it feels like there should have been one to start with. I wonder if there could be a board made that bans children from using it? I don't know if you're familiar with Chicken Smoothie or not, but members under 13 aren't even allowed to talk to other users in the boards because of COPPA(Child Online Privacy Protection Act) that they follow that keeps children from posting without parent permission. And they are unable to view the 18+ board and human roleplay board.

I agree with you on that point. I would love to see more mature rps too. Mostly because I like to write about dark topics that some may consider controversial. Again I point to my main characters who are in a deeply committed physical relationship yet they are brother and sister. It's always frustrating to me that I have to tone down things for the sake of making it friendly. Life doesn't come with bubble wrap. I think it will be okay to do one. We are kinda in a dead zone right now so I'm open to any type of rp right now.

Mine and my fiance's characters have a tendency to do the same things. It sounds interesting to do with someone else though. As for toning things down, I definitely understand. I'm fond of non-so consensual things, violence, highly controversial things, including under age, among other things. And that's not even with the OC I posted. The one I'm referring to is my main one. In fact, Lexa is merely a female version of him. I'll have to post Axel won't I?

Sure go ahead. I love reading about people's O.Cs. All in all I think the real rule is as long as you aren't overly explicit in detail you should be fine. Not that it bothers me personally. Just in case others are. As a writer I give myself no limitations. Because that's what I believe most people want. They are interested in the darker sides of things, the shock value. I'm even arrogant enough to say that I will pull their relationship off and make people support it. But that's enough about me.

As a Role Player I dislike limitations too. I love getting explicit, but I'll avoid it for the sake of the childrens. As for my own characters...I think I would need to discuss this through PM. Axel sounds awesome. He looks like he would get along well with Raven. That is if he can break past his tough outer shell of course. Actually, Axel kind of reminds me of this character from a book I'm reading by James Reese. At least parts of him do. (using him as a base term. Hope it doesn't cause any offense.)

No offense taken ^^ He's pretty cool, just don't unearth his underbelly. It's pure rotten. And sure, if you'd be interested in pitting the two together, I'd be interested. To some it's ain interesting question about Axel's sex. You haven't asked but it's going to be addressed. He is both male and female, with his female opening situated in the area that would otherwise be known as the perineum on normal humanoid individual. He has a complete set of female organs, enabling him to get pregnant. He puts off the scent of both male and female, making a bizarre scent to come across. Being feral, he marks his territory, and since he normally has to defend himself in the wild, he is usually more masculine...but if treated nicely and loved, he slowly becomes more feminine.

Yeah, that's what I was curious about because it is a topic in the book I'm reading. The character is the same as Axel only they prefer themselves as a she and instead of being a vampire she's a witch.

Heh, witches are cute. I think I'd like to just PMing now. Talking in two different places is making my mind feel weird.

Welcome aboard, Axel. Let me see if I can answer your question.
One thing you should know about the rules is that they were written many, many years ago by a much younger staff. Even though we're all a bit older now, the rules still apply. This has always been and always will be a roleplaying website dedicated to being open to all users, whether they're 12 or 58. Many moons ago, we did have a lot of younger roleplayers around. Our crowd is a bit more disperse and diverse these days, but I like to think that maybe one day we'll get a lot more active roleplayers back on board. As such, I would like to keep all roleplays found here around a PG-13 level so far as content goes.
You are correct that we definitely have a strict "no hentai" rule in place. That means we really frown upon "mature" themed roleplays. That doesn't mean that I'm totally against certain things happening in the roleplay. You can do a few things when it comes to it. You could either just kind of skip over anything that wouldn't fly in a PG-13 setting, or you can take whatever you're looking to roleplay into PMs. Feel free to roleplay anything you want through the private messages - that's between you and whoever else you're talking to/writing with. So long as it's not out in the public eye, it's fine with me.
As far as the "no cursing" rule, that one also has a big of wiggle room. So long as your posts aren't littered with expletives, it's fine. A few curse words slip out on Inuyasha every now and then, depending on the situation, so the same thing also applies here. If your character is caught between a rock, a hard place, and a horde of angry demons, a curse or two is absolutely understandable. If you read through my posts, you'l fine a few "not so nice" words here and there. Just be discrete and creative (such as "Oh yeah? Well you're a piece of sh--" "Shiitake mushrooms? I love those!") about it and it's really okay. However, if you start to use a certain four letter word that rhymes with duck between every other word of your post, your post will get deleted and you'll get a warning. Simple as that.

Ok, thank you so very much for your input. I was a little confused to start with but you've cleared everything up. And thank you so INCREDIBLY much for responding to me. I wasn't expecting the main mod to respond. When it boils down to younger children verses adult content, do you know about COPPA? Child Online Privacy Protection Act. There is a website that utilizes a program that bans users registered under 13 to be unable to see boards for adult users. If you would like to know the name of this website to contact them and learn how to use the program so younger users just can't access stuff they wouldn't want to see, I can help with that ^^

Our aim is to not have anything that would be unsuitable for young eyes in the first place.
