Roleplaying!
Ok, so you're somewhat new and have no clue what the heck we're doing as we ramble on in the message boards and through the email? Fear no more!
Roleplaying is simple enough. Just pick a character you like from the show, for example Kikyo or Shippo, and act like you think they would. For example, if you're Kikyo and somebody attacks you, what would she do? Stand there helplessly and die? (Wait, she's dead all ready... or is she?) No way! She would summon up her soul searcher things and beat the crap out of whatever was attacking her!
And let's say you're Shippo! He tries to be brave but isn't really all that strong... so fight the best Shippo can. Use his attacks like Fox Fire and throw giant spinning tops at your enemies!
The character you had your heart set on is taken? What are you going to do about it? Create an evil clone if you want! Be an Evil Kagome! Or click here
to go and see what characters we have 'up for adoption.' That means some people have found pictures of interesting looking people and put them there for you to become. If there's some sort of warrior person, take the picture and give the character a name and some decent attacks.
Still confused? Ok, here's some more attempts to explain. If when you joined you hit the option that said "I'll read all the messages in my email" or whatever, that means every single message somebody posts up is sent to your mailbox, and probably quite a few others. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're emailing you some whacky insane message, it's just a reply to one of the messages we have going. I'm not sure if you can roleplay through the email, but I think it's possible. If you want to roleplay, I'd say the easiest way would be to go to the message boards themselves.
Read through a roleplay that has started and see whether you like it or not. If you do then feel free to join right in, even if the people participating seem like they're in a life or death battle. Just make a good entrance ;-) and everything should be fine. If a character is kinda mean to you, either take it up with them on the message boards or (if you're really wondering what the heck did you ever do to them) email them or talk to them in the chatroom or something. Most likely it's how their character acts, and everybody on here is a pretty nice bunch anyway.
Ok, where was I... oh yeah. Once you finally get done reading (some of the RP's can get pretty dang long) just REPLY to the latest message that is posted. A box should come up and you can type your actions in there. When you're done, post it up and then check in later to see if anybody has replied. Oh, and be sure to pick an RP that is still going on. For instance, don't go to one that was last updated 11/4/03 because there's probably a 0.00321% chance of somebody posting after you. You're more than welcome to read the RP though.
Oh, one other thing. If somebody would post something like (I'm making this up)
Inuyasha runs at Kagura and attacks her with his sword. He lands on the ground behind her and laughs. "Ha! Take that, you stupid demon!"
... and if you're Kagura, you are absolutely positively not allowd to automatically block his attack EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! Every now and then is fine, just don't make a habbit of it. It gets annoying. Oh, and don't steal other people's characters unless you really really really know the person and know they won't mind or unless you ask in advance. For instance...
Let's say I'm Zelli, and there's somebody else called Ramen-Boy. Ramen-Boy can't say something like: Ramen-Boy grabs Zelli and runs off into the woods with her. He then tries to kill her but Zelli knocks his sword away. However Ramen-Boy has another sword so he stabs Zelli in the chest and kills her.
There's 2 things wrong with that. First off, Ramen Boy didn't give Zelli a chance to respond. You always gotta do that. And second, he 'made her' hit the sword away and then stabbed her anyway. No doign actions for other people and no killing people off unless they're your character and you want their ghost to come back for some unknown reason.
Now that I've rambled on for a good 15 minutes, I hope that at least somebody understands something a little bit better. If yo actually read this and are still confused, just email me and ask me to start a ... well, there's no other way of saying it... to start a Newbie RP to get everybody in the swing of things. Ok? Ok! Now get up and walk around some, I'm sure this took forever to read. =P Seeya all on the message boards!
