Inuyasha is the story of a girl named Kagome...
A boy named Inuyasha...
And a bunch of other people....
Now, back to Kagome. She lives in the present day era of Japan. She's your average 16 year old school girl with nothing more on her mind than tests, guys, homework, and how to stay out of the family business. One the day of her 16th birthday, her Grandpa gives her a jewel keychain and tells her a story of the powers of the ancient Shikon Jewel. Kagome blows it off, of course, not believing a word. A little bit later, her cat Bouyo runs into the well and gets stuck. She goes to get it out when all of a sudden the well cover breaks open and a monster appears out of the well and drags Kagome down!!
Kagome somehow breaks away from the monster, blasting one of its arms off. She falls and falls until, finally, she hits ground and climbs out of the well to see... she's not in Kansas anymore!! Kagome has somehow arrived in the Futile Era of Japan, almost 500 years in the past! Kagome roams around for a while until she comes across something very odd. She sees a guy pinned to a tree by an arrow.
Stranger still, he has dog ears!
Well, some of the friendly villagers shoot some arrows at her and capture her. They take her to Kaede, the village wise woman I guess we can call her. At first, everybody believes Kagome to be some sort of demon. Kagome argues with them until they untie her and Kaede takes her in for some good old fashioned stew. As they talk, Kaede notices something about Kagome, but doens't get a chance to say anything, because just at that time, the monster from the well comes back in search of the 'Shikon No Tama'. Kagome runs off into the forest to force the monster to follow her. The monster does indeed follow her, and for some unknown reason, the dog boy pinned to the tree awakens! The boy spots Kagome and starts yelling at her, calling her by the name Kikyo. Kagome gets rather upset about this and finally convinces the boy that she isn't this "Kikyo" girl. The monster attacks and pins Kagome and the dog boy together...
...and Kagome is forced to pull out the arrow that pins the dog boy to the tree. Inuyasha, the dog boy, takes out the monster in but one swipe of his claws.
During the fight, though, Kagome is injured and some round jewel flies out of her body. After the fight, she learns that it's the Shikon No Tama, also called the Shikon Jewel. Kagome takes it, but Inuyasha gets mad. Inuyasha wants it for himself, so he begins to chase Kagome around. Kagome, being the clutz she is, trips and falls. The jewel bounces out onto a nearby bridge, and Inuyasha races after it. Kaede shows up and uses her magic to cause a magical necklace to fly out onto Inuyasha.
Kaede tells Kagome that she can 'control' Inuyasha with but a simple word. Kagome thinks and thinks, and just as Inuyasha is about to grab the jewel, Kagome yells out "SIT!" ... or "Osuwari!" Inuyasha does a face plant into the bridge, which breaks, and he falls into the river. Kagome retrieves the jewel.
Kaede tells Kagome that she must be the reincarnation of Kikyo.
Kikyo was a priestess who lived 50 years ago. Kikyo is also the older sister of Kaede, who is the current priestess of the village. Anyway, Kikyo was gaurdian over the Shikon No Tama. That's right, WAS. She protected it from evil and uncorrupted it as she kept it safe. Inuyasha was after the jewel to become a full demon, because he is actually only half demon. The two really never fought each other, and they even eventually fell in love. One day, Kikyo told Inuyasha that he could use the jewel to become completely human. Then, Inuyasha and Kikyo could live a happy life together. Inuyasha agreed to this, and Kikyo said to meet her the next day. She would bring the jewel to him so that he could use it to become a human. It would vanish, leaving Kikyo free to do whatever she wanted. Inuyasha showed up the next day, only to be attacked by Kikyo. He attacked the village, mada t Kikyo for turning against him, and stole the Shikon No Tama. He then fled into the forest, where he was again attacked by a wounded Kikyo. She shot an arrow at him, pinning Inuyasha to a tree. There he remained for 50 years...
The next day, Kagome gets attacked by some theives. They're after the jewel, of course, and Inuyasha comes to her rescue. Or rather, he comes to rescue the jewel. Inuyasha ends up killing off most of the thieves, but then they are attacked by a large demonic raven. Kagome drops the jewel and the raven eats it, becoming larger and more demonic than before. Inuyasha gets really mad at Kagome and goes chasing off after the demon raven. Kagome follows him. She finds a bow and some arrows somewhere along the way, and Inuyasha grabs her. He figures that since she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, a master archer, then Kagome will have no problem shooting the raven out of the sky. Yeah right! To sum up Kagome's archery skills it but one simple word... they suck. They don't even come near to the raven. Inuyasha dumps her off in the village and goes chasing after the bird again. The bird attacks the village, grabbing a little kid and carrying him off. Inuyasha slices the bird to pieces and the child falls into the river. Kagome dives in after him, ignoring the villagers shouting out that she is now a water demon. She rescues the boy just as the pieces of the raven regroup themselves. The foot of the raven is still stuck to the boy, though. Kagome ties the foot of the raven to one of her arrows and fires it, figuring that the foot will guide the arrow into the raven. Sure enough, it does. It shatters the bird, along with something else... you guessed it, the Shikon Jewel is shattered. The pieces fly everywhere, literally. So now, Kagome feels that it is her mission to gather up the shards of the jewel along with Inuyasha. The story continues, but you'll have to watch the series to find out what happens later on. Rest assured, things turn out... interesting.

INUYASHA
In A Nutshell
Perhaps it's because I'm bored. Perhaps it's because I'm lazy. Perhaps it's a mixture of both. Anywho, I'm figuring I am never going to get around to actually making a profile for each and every person possible, so here you have it, a summary of all the characters that I can think of off the top of my head!
This will be updated a lot more. I just don't feel like typing any more at the moment.
Kaede
Kaede is the priestess of Inuyasha and the gang's home base, let's call it. Kaede is probably about 60-ish. She is also Kikyo's younger sister. We know that when she was young, she lost one of her eyes in a tragic accident. We also know that she is able to fire arrows as good as any of the useless villagers. She's also the one who stuck Inuyasha's necklace on him. I'm sure he just loves her for that.
Kikyo
Kikyo WAS the priestess of the village. She was also the protector of the Shikon Jewel. She fell in love with Inuyasha and told him that they could use the jewel to change him into a human, because while he is half demon, he's also half human, remember. Well, Naraku came along and tricked them. His interference led to Kikyo being killed and Inuyasha being sealed to the tree for 50 years. A witch stole her burned remains and brought her back to life by use of magic, a clay body, and a part of Kagome's own soul. Now Kikyo roams the land as a not-really-alive but not-really-dead soul collecting priestess. She wants revenge against Naraku, and she also wants to drag Inuyasha to hell. I'm sure she wouldn't mind killing off Kagome, as well.
Kirara (or Kilala, if you prefer)
Kirara is Sango's pet cat demon. She's so cute, and adorable, and a demon killing machine. She has two forms - her cutesy 3 inches tall form, and the form you see pictured above.
Myoga
Myoga is Inuyasha's ever so faithfully cowardly "servant." Actually, Myoga sort of served Inuyasha's father. He shows up every now and then to tell Inuyasha interesting things, or warn him of things, or just showing up to be a pest in general. Oh, but you'll never see him during a fight. He always runs off before a big fight - unless he forced to come along. Then all he does is cry and complain and say things like "We're going to be kiiiilled!"
Kohaku
Kohaku is Sango's younger brother. He trained along side of her as a demon slayer. However, Naraku got ahold of him and forced him to slaughter every member of their village, including his own father. He even attacked Sango, and she nearly died. Now he works for Naraku with no memory of anything that happens. Sango has sworn revenge against Naraku and vowed to get her brother back. Kohaku is kept alive by a shard of the Shikon jewel, and Sango fears for him constantly.
Sesshomaru
Sesshomaru is Inuyasha's half brother. He is much older than Inuyasha. He's also a full demon. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru have the same father, but while Inuyasha's mother was human, Sesshomaru's mother was another demon. Sesshomaru lost an arm to Inuyasha in their first fight over the Tetsusaiga, a sword left behind by their father and capable of slaying 100 demons with one swing. Sesshomaru got the Tenseiga, able to heal 100 creature with one swing. Now, if you were a demon looking to kick some butt, you're not exactly going to want to fight with a blade that can't kill. No wonder Sesshomaru is a bit angry. He shows up every now and then to battle his younger brother. He had a sword made for him using demon teeth from a demon created by Naraku that actually broke Inuyasha's sword. It was also covered in the blood of slaughtered villagers. Sesshomaru swears he'll kill Inuyasha one day.
