History: Kiri was born into a Youkai clan of Cat demons, where she lived for a small amount of 10 years, for it was then that her true blood was revealed. Before that, she grew up normally, growing up with other demon children, playing almost like normal children would. There was a time though, once a month that Ame, her mother, would not allow her outside. It was that time of the month that she reverted back into a human form. As a result, she would spend that night, and day, in her home with her grandmother who cared for her. However, people had found out about her human blood, during a 'rite' of the clan. Children, at the age of 10, were to take on their true demon forms to begin their training as demons. As she was a hanyou, she could not take on the form of a true cat demon, for she was not a true demon. When this was realized, she was looked down upon, to such a degree that she was banished from the hidden village they resided in. Her mother was punished for bedding with a human and producing a hanyou offspring, resulting in her imprisonment.
As a result, she grew up struggling as a hanyou, spending most days in trees, away from other demons and animals that could harm her. After a year or so, her grandmother found her and found an abandoned hut for the girl to reside in. It was there that her grandmother took care of her, visiting her at least once a week with a week's worth of food and taught the girl many things. Kiri grew up peacefully with her grandmother and learned many things as a cat demon from her. However, at the age of 19, she questioned her grandmother about her mother, asking her if she'd ever see her again. Her grandmother was silent for a long time before answering the question with a question, asking the girl if she wanted to meet her father. This thrilled the girl, though she knew her grandmother did it to keep her from asking of her mother. Regardless, her grandmother left the village for two weeks and the two of them left for her father's village, which was not a long journey away.
However, she and her grandmother had to sneak in the village at night, for the village was very cautious of demons. They traveled along shadows and rooftops to her father's hut, which they slipped in easily and silently. At first, her father; Taiyō, was surprised by the visit, almost calling for the village guards, but her grandmother silenced him with a hand. It was then that her grandmother introduced herself as Ame's mother, and introduced Kiri as his daughter. Her father looked to Kiri, seeing how similar the two women's hair were, both being a shade of red. However, he also saw his love's eyes, face, everything that was Ame. He hugged Kiri, happy to finally meet her. It had been so long since he had last seen Ame, almost 20 years and he questioned why it was her grandmother to bring her and not her mother. Kiri was hesitant in telling her father that she did not know but her grandmother said that she was currently too occupied to accompany her child.
The two of them spent a few days there, in secret, at least Kiri was in secret. Her grandmother had the ability to cast an illusion to give herself a more human appearance, and at time cast a similar spell upon Kiri. However, it was soon time for them to return to their village, which caused much sadness for Taiyō, for he wanted to spend more time with his daughter. However, her grandmother apologized and said she would return with Kiri later that year. The two left in the dark of night and traveled back to the hut that Kiri lived. Three years passed in a similar manner, her grandmother visiting her every week and twice a year, left to see her father. However, in that final year, when they left to visit her father, it was revealed that her father had passed in a demon attack when he was out harvesting. In grief at this news, her grandmother had them stay in a rundown hut in the woods near the village, secretly attending the departure of her father.
When they had returned to their hut, about a mile from it, her grandmother stopped her and told Kiri to hide. Just as she was hidden and her presence concealed by her grandmother, a ground of cat demons from the village appeared. They confronted her grandmother about her disappearances and she answered that she did not need to divulge these facts, as she was an elder demon and her deeds should not be questioned. One mentioned of smelling humans upon her person and she answered simply that she had attacked some, another mentioning that they would then smell blood. She was growing irritated with their integration and told them as such, that if they didn't cease, she would end their lives. They laughed it off and said she could never harm her own clan, which caused her grandmother to smile wickedly. She told them that she could harm them for the treatment of her daughter they showcased on a daily basis, this starting to cause fear in the demons.
One attacked her however, raising to her challenge and she attacked back, the others joining in not long after. She slaughtered them, killing every last one of them, however, she was gravely injured. She told Kiri to stay in the hut while she left to heal. Sadly, her grandmother never returned for months, which caused her much worry. She had been taught how to look for her own food in the forest though, so she was able to provide for herself for a while. After about 6 years, she found a basket of food upon the door of her home, surprised by it. When she had emptied the basket, she found a gray-pearl necklace with two fangs upon it and a bright teal blue gem. It was beautiful and she was entranced by it, wearing it from then on, loving how it looked.
A few months later, another basket appeared upon her doorstep, to which she emptied and found clothing. It was a whole outfit, of a variety of colors, to which she slipped on, wearing it also from then on, loving the way it felt. Almost two years later, a larger basket came, with a parchment attached. The note read,
'My dear daughter, I have prepared you for the fights that are to come. The clan has found out with grandmother's death your presence. She concealed it for years with her own power; the necklace should protect you from all illusions; the clothes are made from my own hair and should withstand all attacks, from both demon and human kind; and finally, in this basket, is 'Kyomen-tanga', that will keep you safe. It is made from the fang of your grandmother, someone who always wanted to protect you, same as me. I hope you will be safe and I hope to see you again.
Your mother, Ame.'
It was then that Kiri realized just in how much danger she was and knew it was then that she had to leave. She packed up the food in the basket and found within a small sword, a wakizashi. She took that with her and left that hut, saying good bye to not only the hut, but to her grandmother she had never known passed. She now travels to get away from the people who are out for her life, for the clan could not let a half cat demon live.
