I'm not sure exactly how this all works here with canon characters, it has me a bit confused. Doesn't normaly a member claim one canon character as their own and it's theirs on the entire forum? I think one canon character per person makes things a bit easier and less confusing as to who rps who. As for other, minor canon people could temp them.

It would depend on the site since each one has different visions. However I think we can have one canon character as long as we don't misuse them and pretend to be almighty. However ultimate decision rest with the mods and admins.

That's true. There is also the matter of people going way of a characters personality. In that an rp sample in the bio would help to show the person actualy knows the character.

RULEZ - READ THEM. 8) ANYBODY can control Naraku because he is the main villian of the series. No getting mad because other people control him and so do you. This also goes for all of the main characters. Character control can vary from roleplay to roleplay, too, so if you've played Inuyasha in your roleplay and join another where someone else is being Inuyasha, you can't decide that you're going to take over the control of Inuyasha (unless you talk it over with everyone else in the roleplay and it's a mutual agreement).
8) Extension - All of the main characters can be controlled. If you make a thread involving the characters, then say so, and also say that you'd like people to join and be those characters. For example... "ooc: Hey, I need someone to play Kagome and Sango in this roleplay." Another way of stating is "Canon Characters can be controlled by anyone."
8a) If you are playing a Canon Character (which is a fancy way of saying main character, such as Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Kagome, etc.), please keep them as close to character as you would find them in the show or in the manga. This means please don't have Sesshomaru suddenly head over heels in love with a character like SuperCatDemonGurl5 and have him stalk her everywhere, kidnap her, and then make out with her and move on to other, more mature things. Sesshomaru, as we all know, would never do this. IYRP isn't a place for random "romantic smut" to occur in the first place. Also, Kagome would never whip out a chainsaw and massacre her friends, and Inuyasha would never fall in love with a man. These situations would not be found happening in the show or in the manga. There are, however, exceptions to this rule where things like this might happen. Some exceptions would include the character being put under a spell, cursed, hexed, threatened, having amnesia, and so on. Really, the situation depends on the roleplay. We trust you to be your own judge as to what is appropriate and what isn't. We simply ask that you keep Canon Characters in character.
8b) This rule does not apply to the Crossover section, as Crossovers are supposed to be messed up in the first place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We don't do "normal" on IYRP. Let's say you wanted to do a roleplay involving Sesshomaru, so you claim him. That's fine and dandy. In that thread, you are Sesshomaru. Well, what if I wanted to do a roleplay where I needed Sesshomaru? If you were the only person allowed to be him, then I'd have to make you join my roleplay. You might not play him the way I would, and it might mess up the roleplay's general story if it was really bad. Also, the roleplay might all ready have 200 posts to it before Sesshomaru appears. At the same time, Keera might want to use Sesshomaru in another roleplay, one that has 362 posts and was based off of an older roleplay from like 2 years ago. Then she would have to tell you everything about that roleplay, wait for you to read the 362 posts and then join in with Sesshomaru, and again she might not like the way you play Sesshomaru. It's also not fair to newcomers to the site. Someone might be amazing at being Kagome, but Kagome was claimed 2 months ago and now they'll never get the chance to be Kagome. I don't want IYRP to be like that.
^_^'' I'm not saying you would play a horrible Sesshomaru, of course. I'm just using an example. We're a big website (er, used to be, IYRP had nearly 3,000 members) and we all have different styles of writing and roleplaying. It's just way easier if cannon characters are free to whoever wants/needs them for a roleplay. I never did like the "ONLY ONE PERSON IS ALLOWED TO BE THIS CHARACTER" thing before. Plus, I think it's unfair to everyone if only one person is allowed to be Inuyasha or Kagome and etc. It's different if you're doing all interconnected stories and roleplays, though, such as a Hogwarts-based thing or something, I dunno, but Inuyasha is such a broad anime that there's room for lots of different stories that might take place at different times in the anime, such as before Inuyasha was pinned to the tree, after they defeated the Band of Seven, before Inuyasha's father was killed, in the present era, during one of the movies, etc. It's endless, and the stories and roleplays here aren't all interelated. What one person does in one roleplay doesn't effect a thing in someone else's roleplay (though it can if they want it to). I could have it that Kagome gets kidnapped and breaks her leg in my roleplay just before Naraku brings Kagura into the picture, and someone else could have another roleplay where Kagome gets in a huge fight and goes back to her home and stumbles across some sealed demon also at the same time Inuyasha-wise. Does this make sense? It makes sense in my head, but just becuase it makes sense to me doesn't mean it makes sense to you...
The bottom line is, you are allowed to control as many cannon characters as you want in any thread you create. If you join someone else's roleplay and they need cannon characters, you're free to be whoever you want to be again just so long as nobody else is playing that character. However, you cannot say "I claim Inuyasha" and then have it be that nobody else is allowed to be Inuyasha. No one person is solely allowed to be a cannon character.
If you have problems with this, bring it up with me.

Well, yes that does make sense for the major canon charcters, like Sesshomaru, InuYasha, Kagome, Naraku etc. because they are needed in every rp. But what about the minor canon characters?
And what of characters that are canon from other anime/games since they are not actual created characters? Like Yan Shi or Lu Bu? Though they are not InuYasha characters, but they are still canon characters/actual people and not self created characters. Can one still post/claim them up as their characters?

*snarls* I just typed this big long explanation then my internet died, so I'm just gonna sum up what I said.
It's the same thing for minor characters - nobody can solely claim them. They're available to everyone.
As for characters from other anime/manga/video games/whatever - Same thing applies. Nobody can solely claim them as their own. Whether that means Naruto, Sailor Moon, Tohru Honda, or Jack Sparrow, no one person is allowed to be that character. I've never heard of Lord Bu or Yan Shi so I'm betting it's safe to say not too many people are going to want to be those characters. Go ahead and roleplay your hearts out being those characters, but you still can't claim them as your own. You're more than welcome to post up a profile for them, though, but just note that they're not OCs and say what anime/manga they come from.

Don't you just hate that? -.-; Happend to me a few times.
Well, Yan Shi and Lu Bu...Yan Shi is a NPC In Dynasty warriors 4, so not actualy a Canon character. She is also part of a novel, as well as someone who lived almost 2000 years ago. So I can't really say what one could call her. Lu Bu is the same, however he is one of the main as well as the most powerful character in all the Dynasty warrior games. Then of course being part of a novel and having actualy lived almost 2000 years ago. Now I mentioned in the bio that Yan Shi was in fact a real person, and I will tell Lu Bu to do the same.
