Wandering (Brought Back)

The night sky was littered with stars. There were four people asleep by a campfire. One of them, a boy with dirty blonde hair opened his eyes. They were silver with slits for pupils. He looked over to one of the girls, the one with blue hair and pointed ears. "Hey, Liya," he said "You awake?" he asked. There was a momentary silence before she said "No,", her eyes still closed. "Hm," was all the boy said. The elfish-looking girl turned her head in the boy's direction, her green eyes were open. "So did you want something, or what?" she curtly said. "I dunno," the boy said. "You said something to me and don't even want anything?" she said sarcastically. Her head snapped in the direction of a noise she heard, she got up and unsheathed the 2 swords from across her back. "Alright, I heard you over there, now come out, slowly. Try anything funny and you'll regret it!"

"I'm not much in the mood for funny," a man who looked remarkably like Naraku said. His hair long and black, eyes red as he scanned the group from his place. Then he smiled at the girl and revealed his hiding place. "I was sleeping up there," he said, pointing to a branch on the tree he was beside. Then I fell and tried to be quiet about it, but ended up making noise anyway. Effort wasted," he said with a shrug. A smile played his lips again as he looked her over, then looked to the boy who was awake. "Hm," he said as he looked at the eyes of the boy. "Interesting."

"Likely story," Liya said and circled him. "How do I know you weren't actually trying to sneak up on us?" she said. There was a rustling sound nearby followed by a "Good grief, Liya," a blonde-haired girl sat up and rubbed her left eye. "Do you have to pick a fight with everyone we meet?"

"Why would i sneak up on you?" he asked, his eyes narrowing on her as she circled. "I wouldn't have to sneak if I really wanted to kill you. Besides, I was here first." He looked at the girl named Liya again, and the looked at his own hair. Then it was all he could do to suppress a laugh. "My apologies. I blend in better like this, but it is not my only form. i just prefer this one, it's sort of menacing to normal people."

"Menacing? Coulda' fooled me," Liya challenged. "Liya, stop," the silver-eyed boy said, intervening. "If you were here first, we'll find another place to camp," he said. "Aw, I just got comfortable," the blonde girl said, rising to her feet.

"Well, I wasn't exactly disturbed," the man said. "My name is Katsumaru Kaze. If any of you've heard of Keera Kaze, Queen of the western ocean, well I'm her nephew." Katsumaru looked around and shook his head. "No, you can stay. I'm done resting here. Sleep away," he added and waved his hand. "Oh, by the way," he said, and turned to Liya. "Don't challenge me. You look confident, and brave, but that wouldn't get you through the miasma my grandfather passed on to me, and I'm not willing to use it until I need to."

Liya reluctantly sheathed her weapons. "Sorry, never heard of her," she said bluntly and laid back down. The boy sighed and looked to Katsumaru. "Sorry, about Liya," he apologized. "She can be a bit hot-headed sometimes," he whispered. "I heard that," Liya follwed up.

"Sort of like my Aunt used to be, or so I heard. She had a really bad temper and personality for a long time, which got her into a lot of trouble, but she did decimate a lot of Japan before she calmed down. Now she only fights when she needs to," Katsumaru said thoughtfully with a smile. "Wish I was around then. I actually should have known you guys wouldn't have known her, she's hundred of years old, and she's not even in this time anymore. Hasn't been for a couple years. My mom's basically taken over her place. So what are you all doing out here? It's not often people camp out anywhere."

"Well, we're looking for someone, someone who we think came to this place with us," the boy said. "I won't bore you with the details, but the thing is that me and my friends aren't from around here," he said. Someone stirred in their sleep, follwed by a surfer-styled voice saying 'Yeah, extra unk sauce on that,' the boy sighed and said. "That's right, you didn't meet Pips, did you?" he asked.

"Do you know their name?" Katsumaru asked. "I might be able to help. So where are you all from?" he asked before the other boy stirred and spoke. "No, I suppose not. He's got an interesting name."

"Well, their names are Zera and Nolaz, and that's really all I can say right now," Dagon said and shifted his attention to Katsumaru's other remark. "Yeah, he's half-celtic, his mother named him that," Dagon said. "Yeah, that's right, I think you should know what we are.Well, to start, I'm human, Namoka, the blonde-haired girl, she's an amazon, and Liya's a valkyrie," Dagon explained.

"Pleasure to meet you all," he said and bowed. "I'm a couple different types of demon. Wouldn't suppose any of you have heard of Naraku?" he asked with a grin. He wasn't sure how much Naraku was still doing in these parts, but it was possible they would know about him, at least.

"Naraku....." Dagon's voice trailed off. "Sorry never heard of him. In fact, we haven't even been here, long," Dagon said. "Why do you ask?" he added.

"Just wondered. He was a demon and the largest threat around here for a very long time. He manipulated many people and villages, killing a lot of people and bringing them under his control. I happen to be related to him. He's my mother's father. So if anyone gets upset over my appearance while I'm with you, you'll know why," Katsumaru said with a sly smile. "I look almost exactly like him in this form. Yet, somehow, I prefer it."

"If he's not the most popular guy around, why do you insist on looking like him?" Dagon asked. "I mean, wouldn't it be easier to go around not looking like him if he was a known murderer or psychopath?" he added. Liya walked back over to where she originally was and laid back down. "Psychopath sounds like a bit of an understatement," she said cynically as she closed her eyes.
