Nayr was listening intently to Mini's words, getting his bearings on what kind of wound he was going to inflict on the poor girl in the name of getting at the shard in her arm. She had just finished telling him where the jewel shard was and was about to launch into what she wanted him to do when her sentence died on her lips and her eyes went wide and glazed over. As if something had seized control of her mind and had no need of the rest of her. She spoke, but sounding like her words were either coming from a great distance away or addressed to someone a great distance away. Either way, Mini was out of the building. She said something about not being able to talk to someone, but Nayr couldn't tell exactly. Truth be told, he wasn't accustomed to focusing on what one girl was saying in half voice when there was a fight going on nearby. It was rather a miracle that he could hold the situation in his mind at all given the two going at it in the courtyard. He was about to ask her what was going on when there was a loud thump above them. He looked up, forgetting momentarily about Mini's plight. Then, the roof shattered. His eyes closed, his head came down, his arms came up, and he jumped backwards, all on reflex to protect him from the wood pouring down. Along with it, though, came the water that had been sitting on the roof.
Nayr was soaked through in seconds, even given his reflexive evasion of the falling roof. He blacked out.
That is to say, the person inside the body known as Nayr blacked out. The body itself stood, eyes blank, completely soaked, rain coming down on its head, and began to steam. The hiss of water evaporating off of Nayr's momentarily still form was quiet, all but drowned out by the sound of falling rain.
Almost supernaturally quickly, Nayr's back arched and his head was thrown back, pointing his face, absent eyes and all, towards the weeping sky. What erupted from his throat was a human sound, a cry of great pain, but only transiently. It was likely that those observing this change were only partially aware of the sound's rapid dehumanization, however, because it was accompanied by a more dramatic physical transformation. His blank human eyes appeared to catch flame, burning an angry red as they vanished. His flesh expanded, tearing the seams of his clothing as his body grew, and was replaced by black demon flesh. With the same speed as before, his body convulsed again, this time jerked forward into a hunched position. The force of the motion combined with his changing form tore the shoulder strap of the bag he carried, and it dropped to the ground with a soft thud muffled by the sounds of his metamorphosis. His clothes continued to tear as his usually trim human sized self grew to a much taller demon with great wings that now burst forth from his back. Out of his head grew slowly a set of horns that looked to be made of ebony. Fingers became claws. Feet became talons. A human cry of pain became a demon's roar of fury.
When the transformation was complete, there hunched a black demon with baleful red flames in his eye sockets, who promptly stood quickly and destroyed what remained of the roof, leaving nothing remaining between the porch and the pouring rain, some of which sizzled and evaporated on contact with the demon's skin. Risen to his full nine feet, the demon spread his wings and roared to the clouded sky.
Angra Mainyu had been unleashed.
His burning red gaze snapped to his left, and Naraku, who had been tossed from the roof when it was destroyed, halted in midair just before he hit the ground, as though he'd landed on a pillow instead of on the ground. Angra Mainyu extended his hand, and the somewhat helpless demon shot towards him, his throat landing in Mainyu's outstretched hand. He waited until Naraku was present enough to gaze into the red flames before he spoke, his voice like a distant earthquake tinged with the sound of a volcanic eruption.
"YOU'RE WHAT PASSES FOR A DEMON IN THIS AGE? YOU DISHONOR EVERYTHING WE EVER WERE. WHY DO YOU DALLY WITH THESE MORTALS?"

Keera's ears rang as the demon transformed, and she watched the sickening scene unfold. Nayr had blacked out, just as he said he would, but he didn't just black out. He became a demon, a very strong, old demon. Each time a new feature sprang up during the transformation, Keera was sent back through books in her mind. Through scrolls, papers, and stone tablets. Once his wings came out and horns grew, she was immediately brought back to when she'd locked herself in the library as a child. She'd read every book in there before allowing herself to come out, and now she was glad she had.
There had been a few drawings, and a couple resembled what this demon looked like. It took her a moment to remember from which book this came from, and what exactly this demon was. She couldn't remember every detail, but it had attracted her slight attention at the discovery of him. It took her a few moments, but eventually she remembered.
A cold chill ran down her spine as Naraku landed near her, and then was immediately sucked back over to the demon. Her stomach twisted in anxiety, but curiousity held her in place. She'd have been smart if she'd left when Mini told her to, that she realized now. However, Keera never did like listening - or running away from something - and that tended to get her wounded to near death.
She could feel the power radiating from him, this great, great demon. At the sound of his booming voice she almost felt compelled to bow down. However the other dimensioned side of her was what kept her from doing so. She would not bow to a demon from this dimension, this reality. There were others plenty stronger on the other side, but she'd never faced one and managed to beat him. She doubted she'd be able to take this one on and beat him, either, though... which was something, because any other demon alive would be hard pressed to beat her.
She found slight annoyance once his words rang back through her mind. He just called her and Mini... mortals. He could die as well as they could, though perhaps not as easily. Not that she was stupid enough to try it. At a couple thousand years old, she was still a child compared to him. It almost bothered her. There were only a few demons older than her now, she didn't need another one.
Naraku couldn't believe his eyes, or the power from this creature. Be caught in the demon's claws was not something he'd planned to do that night. He should have taken the procautions about this guy when Mini seemed to get so flustered about his appearing in the court yard with Keera. Who and what was this thing? Did Keera know this would happen? Surely not, she seemed curious at best, and when he landed by her she seemed to be lost in a completely different time or place. Then he found himself in his current position, about to get his throat ripped out by a demon with insane power. Then he heard her speak, as if she actually knew about this guy.
"Angra Mainyu," Keera spoke out loud, as if his name had just come to her.

Mini crawled free of the pile of wreckage she had been hurled into when Angra Mainyu saw fit to destroy the rest of the porch. She was soaked to the bone, bleeding from a nasty gash on her forehead, and her jacket was a tattered, ripped, muddy mess. She forced herself into a sitting position, though it was more like "sprawl out in a heap and manage to sit up just because there's a bunch of random debris behind my back" position. Her face was absolutely void of any sort of emotion as she stared up at the demon now grasping Naraku by the neck. It took her a bit, but she finally managed to tear her gaze away and find Keera, who oddly enough somehow knew the demon's name. In her head, she screamed all sort of profane things at Keera, but couldn't make herself form a single word. So terrified was she of what Nayr had become, she had lost the ability to do much of anything. It took all her sanity and strength to mouth a single word to her friend.
"Run."

The demon in question was disgusted and annoyed at Naraku's lack of response to his question, and was about to do something to remind him why he should cooperate when he heard a sound he hadn't been expecting in this age.
His name.
His baleful eyes snapped upward, away from the useless slime in his hand and locked onto the orbs of one of the two mortals present, the other of which was...somewhere. It didn't matter to him much, because in the world of a demon, at least the kind of demon he was accustomed to, mortals were numerous and fleeting.
"HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME, MORTAL? THERE WAS AN AGE WHEN ALL MEN TREMBLED IN FEAR OF IT, AND YET YOU SPEAK IT AS THOUGH IT WERE A MERE TRIFLE. ANSWER ME SATISFACTORILY AND I'LL CONSIDER SPARING YOUR MEANINGLESS LIFE."[/color]
That, he thought to no one in particular, was how you dealt with mortals. Their flash-in-the-dark lives were too trivial to bother a demon of his stature, and nothing this mere girl could have done in life would make her worthy of his notice, so he spoke as though her life was in his hand already. His attention fixed on the girl who'd had the nerve to speak his name so casually, Naraku was being held somewhat less tightly, though still securely enough that Mainyu would certainly notice if he were to try to get loose.

Keera saw Mini crawl out from the debris, and watched her mouth the word 'run' - but it didn't phase her. It was too late to back off now. She'd caught the big guy's attention, and while it was intentional, it was probably very stupid.
Keera's expression went from thoughtful to almost angry as he called her a mortal, yet again. She really wanted to get sharp with him over it, using some words he certainly would not like to hear, and then promptly have herself mutilated. "I read about you almost two thousand years ago, and I don't appreciate you calling me a mortal. Considering the body you're stuck sharing. Also, I'm not a man, nor do I lack the power to at least protect myself should you decide to end my life."
This seemed nice, but also really pushing it. It took a lot of control to not be nasty back to Angra, but it couldn't be his fault that he was like this. He was imprisoned in Nayr, and being imprisoned at all is enough to make a great demon into a very angry demon.
Naraku listened to Keera speak, and wondered what she was trying to pull. She couldn't be trying to get him away this guy, she'd probably be pleased if he died, and would thank this oversized, ancient demon. She didn't have the guts to kill him, or so he thought. When she'd attacked him before this Mainyu grew out of that human, she seemed pretty serious about taking his life.
He felt the demon's grip loosen just slightly, and then he thought about Mini again, and made sure to keep her legs in place. He didn't care if she died to this demon, but he had a better chance of getting out the more people were able to move around. Keera may not save him, but he might be able to get Mini to. This guy was just a road block.

Mini's face met suddenly with her palm. Was Keera dumb, or stupid?! Demon Queen of the Sea (or whatever she preferred to call herself these days) or not, she was seriously NOT thinking of egging this spawn of Satan on, was she?
Of course she was.
"Keera, knock it off! Do you want him to rip your skin off and use it as a tissue?!" Mini hissed frantically at her idiotic friend.
The gears were spinning in her head as she sat there, rain pouring down on her. The rain was seriously ticking her off. Part of her vaguely wondered how she had not yet sprouted a tail, but she wasn't about to go jinxing herself into growing one. If that happened, she didn't doubt she'd be left alive long enough to think about it. While giant storms like this one tended to amplify her powers a hundred fold, it still wouldn't be anywhere near enough to manage to distract Angra Mainyu long enough to grab Keera and get as far away as they could. She could care less about what happened to Naraku at the moment. Seeing Nayr and then watching that happen all over again had thankfully returned her wits to her, at least for the time being.
Think. Think think think. What had happened the last time this happened? All she could remember was the after effects of what Mainyu had done to that horrible dragon that had been so strong and so angry it had just about killed Mini, and a creature that could do that to Mini wasn't exactly something to be trifled with. Mainyu had made the Death Dragon look weaker than a newborn rabbit. And those eyes... those horrible eyes had locked on her momentarily, and she knew that only some true miracle had spared her that day. Why he didn't rip her apart limb from limb was beyond her thought process. Did it have anything at all to do with Nayr? Was he still even there? She knew from experience he had no idea this beastie lived inside of him, unleashed by water. But still, Nayr had to be there somewhere, right?
She needed more time to work on the plan that was brewing in her head. She also needed enough time to make sure Keera didn't end up like the dragon. She swore loudly to herself, finally pushing herself to her feet. Oh, this was a horrible idea.
"HEY! HEY DEMON GUY! NAY-- er-- ANGRY MAN-YOO! Why waste your time with us silly mortal girls? Surely what little time you have available to you right now is best spent teaching that no good, rotten, miserable excuse of a demon in your hands what it means to really be a demon, right? You know, a real demon! Do you know he has mindless minions do all his dirty work for him?! Do you know that he hides himself from others WITH A BAMBOO PELT?! I'm not lying!! A BAMBOO PELT! He hides his true demon nature UNDER THE SKIN OF A MONKEY! What do you think about that?!"

Angra Mainyu arched a brow at the girl's response. Two thousand years? Was that par for mortal life these days? He focused his gaze on the girl, trying to determine exactly what she was that she should live so long. What he saw was...complicated. Part mortal, to be sure, but the rest was more interesting.
"AH, SO YOU AREN'T AS YOU SEEM. YOU'RE A MONGREL, AND A CURIOUS ONE. YOU'RE A DEMON, BUT THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE. SOME POWER I DON'T RECOGNIZE. WHO WERE YOUR PARENTS, GIRL?"
He appeared thoughtful for a moment before the situation was interrupted by a shout from his left. He turned his baleful eyes and saw someone he recognized. A patently evil grin split his features as he regarded the trapped form of the girl from an earlier time he broke free.
"AH, SO YOU'VE MADE IT THIS FAR. A PLEASURE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. YOUR FORTUNES DON'T SEEM TO HAVE IMPROVED MUCH. MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED MY ADVICE..."
It didn't much matter to him, but if she did, it would certainly be a coup, wouldn't it? Meanwhile, he was sure the demon he held was up to something, but he couldn't quite bring himself to care just yet. Let the filth work his machinations. If they grew to anything respectable, maybe he'd spare the worm after all.

Naraku's red eyes slowly went from Mainyu's arms up to his face. He could tell Keera was about to blow a gasket on this demon, and though he wished she was dead, he wanted this guy's power first. THEN he would kill her himself. So the next thing he decided to do was let Mini off his power and use it on Mainya.
Keera was about to speak when she saw Naraku's gaze change position - onto Mainyu. She opened her mouth to retort against what Mainyu had called her when Naraku's body exploded into a grotesque thing that quickly wrapped itself around Mainyu to suck the power out of him, and essentially dissolve Mainyu's body into Naraku's - so they would become one.
"You... you're... SO stupid," Keera groaned, showing the first bit of an actual personality in the longest time. "You can't even get Sesshoumaru, how are you supposed to absorb Angra Mainyu? He's a million times stronger than you'll ever become." Why do you have to be such a dumbass? Keera thought, and the fox in her snickered.

Mini flinched as Angra Mainyu turned his attention towards her. His voice sent shivers down her spine. It wasn't as worse as the last time, but surely it wouldn't take long for it to turn chaotic. Especially when Naraku was involved. At least there weren't any dragons around...
Her right hand fell to her side, where her fingers wrapped themselves snuggled around her blade's handle. As Mainyu spoke to her, Mini started to creep closer and closer towards Keera.
"Y-Yeah, maybe I should have. Maybe I tried. But, y'know how life tends to be sometimes. Surely you know all about that, you being trapped inside that poor baka-headed Nayr! I mean, he doesn't even know you exist! Must make you pretty upset, right? Being trapped all the-- what the-- Gah!"
As Mini had been talking and inching towards her friend, several things had happened at once. First, Naraku had decided to focus all of his attention to Mainyu. That meant he had completely released his hold he had on her, which meant he also pulled his evil influence out of the jewel shard embedded somewhere on her person. Without his dark powers influencing both the jewel and her body, the mermaid magic that now resided within her broke free of the box Naraku had stuffed it into. Since Mini was soaked to the bone, it had taken about two seconds for her entire body to momentarily turn to water and then reform. Her legs vanished beneath her, replaced instead by a very large and scaley green tail. That accounted for why Mini had yelped. While all this was going on, Naraku had also exploded into a giant mass of root-looking tentacles and was trying to wrap himself around Mainyu, probably in an attempt to absorb the spawn of satan and gain his powers.
Mini had fallen flat onto her stomach, right into a rather large mud puddle. At least she still had her sword. It was quite a sight to behold - a muddy mermaid with a death-grip on a katana lying there in the rain.
"... Um... Where the @$&*! did this STUPID TAIL COME FROM?!? I thought it was GONE! I've been out in the rain loads of times since Naraku-- wait a sec-- Naraku-- hey, I'm ME again! And he is-- oh no, what the hell is he trying to do?! Keera, STOP him!! He's just going to make Mainyu angry and then we're ALL gonna be in VERY SERIOUS TROUBLE!" she screamed.

Mainyu was actually starting to have fun with these two. It was mildly baffling, but perhaps wonders never ceased after all. Perhaps he'd have to kill one of them on principle, but maybe the other one, the girl who'd stood up to him, would provide some entertainment yet. Maybe she could live. He was lost in his reverie for the scant instant before the girl would respond to him, but before she was allowed to, someone made their move. The petty excuse for a demon Angra Mainyu held exploded into a mass of tentacles that moved to engulf him. For a moment, Mainyu was impressed. For a moment, he wondered if the demons of this age were really so weak as he expected. For a moment, he considered if perhaps this was the end of the line, that he'd drawn the attention of a being strong enough to end him.
But only for a moment.
Reaching deep into the void of his soul, he exploded forth in fire and darkness, releasing the very power that had birthed him in a burst of rage that had burned mountains to a cinder so many long eons before. He lashed the demon Naraku with dark fire, and turned his full attention on the foolish insect that had dared to confront his wrath. He pulled both clawed hands back from his intended target, gathering his power into a burst that would erase the useless demon scum from the face of the world. He faced Naraku for that scant instant, looking the demon full in the eyes, his own blazing orbs flaring in rage. Then he unleashed a salvo of blazing demonic energy that shone angry red and streaked toward what remained of Naraku, carrying with it ample power to scatter his body to the four winds.

"Three... two..." Keera whispered, as Angra Mainyu raised his arms, "One." As the fire-like energy blasted, Naraku disappeared into a rift - typical of him. Disappear the moment he's able, and not worry about anyone else. Part of the reason she took off from him a while back. He left her once, and from there she went home, and vowed to pay him back. Eventually kill him.
Part of her wondered why she hadn't done it yet. She could have killed him. She made excuses for herself so often, but why? Did she need something to do? Was he her source of excitement, even now? She knew killing him would have great effects on Japan, but something else stronger would pop up somewhere and threaten the country again, so in other words, why bother? Might as well let him live and keep him in check from time to time. Saves more hassle later - right?
Wrong.
Now there was this ancient demon, back from purgatory to attempt and stay here in the world she adopted. Well, she guessed it sort of adopted her, since she was born here. She did make it fall in line, however, after her father was outsmarted and killed in a war. She massacred the land responsible in less than a month, and not many have messed with her since. Though that was only humans. She'd never encountered a demon of this stature before, never expected such an ancient legend to be real.
"Wonderful," Keera said out loud after Angra Mainyu's attack subsided. "I bet that just tickled you pink how the idiot disappeared like that. Got any plans for later? I thought we might do lunch, or tear up the mountain side in a huge blast of our energies colliding in a fight. We could always go for lunch after." The fox hissed inside her head, growling and cursing her for what she just said to a demon of the likes she'd never seen or felt before.
Keera, in all truth, was afraid. It took a lot to instill fear of any kind in her, but this guy did it simply by existing. She didn't know her power that well yet, but he knew his, and this could get messy - but she would make Mini get out first. "Grow wings and fly out of here, would you?" she said glancing at Mini for a mere second before snapping her eyes back to Mainyu. "Figure something out and scat."

A very large and disgusting mud ball hit Keera right smack dab in the side of her face. It came from Mini's direction.
"Don't you think I would have done that ages ago if I could have?! Just until a few seconds ago, Naraku had me so messed up that I didn't even know WHO YOU WERE! Or did you forget that little fact?! And this... this THING, this monstrosity that has taken the place of my legs--" Here her tail slammed down into the mud with an angry thump, spraying more mud every which way.
"It has my own magic and energies so mixed up that I can't do ANYTHING! No lightning, no fangs, no claws, and no wings! And what kind of freak of nature would I be if I had a giant's fish tail and bat wings?! How would I even land?! Or... Or swim?! Or do whatever I'm supposed to be able to do with no legs?!" she screamed.
"This isn't even my fault! It's all your sister's fault! If she hadn't attacked me with her blasted magic, then I wouldn't have this stupid fish tail! And SHE'S the one who put the jewel shard in me!!! If she hadn't done that then I wouldn't this jewel shard stuck inside me, and I don't even know where it is, and if that wasn't inside of me then Naraku wouldn't be controlling me and if Naraku wasn't controlling me then I wouldn't have tried to kill you and if I hadn't almost killed you then you wouldn't be here trying to save me and if you weren't here trying to save me then I wouldn't have sent you off to get Nayr and then he wouldn't have come here and gotten himself in harm's way and turned into Super McNasty Pants over there!!!" she growled pointing a muddy finger at the raging, seething beast that was Angry Mainyu.
"AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, NARAKU JUST HAD TO GO AND TRY TO ABSORB HIM, THEREFORE TICKING HIM OFF, THEREFORE MAKING HIM ANGRY ENOUGH TO ROAST THE TWO OF US ALIVE WITH NOTHING MORE THAN HIS AURA. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT, KEERA? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
As she was busy screaming, the storm above seemed to build in intensity. The thunder was rumbling so loud it was almost deafening, and bolts of blinding lightning shot out of the storm cloud every half of a second. The rain intensified so much that it seemed like the sky was dumping an entire ocean down on the world.
And then just like that, as the last word left Mini's mouth, it stopped. The lightning vanished, the thunder quieted, and the rain ceased. It went from a monsoon to a dreadful cloudy day in one second.
Mini blinked. She looked up at the sky. One last drop of rain fell right on her nose. She blinked again.
"... Well. That was weird."

Angra Mainyu was expecting to see nothing when his energy subsided. That was sort of the whole point. What he didn't see, however, was a freed spirit. All demons had a sort of spirit at their core that made them who they were. At least, all demons from his time did. He was expecting to see the little slime's diseased spirit, and he was prepared to devour it. So it confused him mildly when the mongrel muttered something about him disappearing. Did it have a trick to escape its death? Possibly. Worth investigation. He fixed his gaze upon where Naraku had been, extending his senses through time to find...that. His eyes narrowed. The slime did save itself. Some kind of rift. He gathered his strength and reached through a spatial rift that didn't exist any longer, and pulled back through time and across space a demon that had previously been there.
"YOU DIDN'T THINK YOU'D BE GETTING AWAY SO EASILY, DID YOU?"
That was when it stopped raining.
Angra Mainyu looked over at the little girl who had been shouting. Did she have a tail now? What kind of humans were these? He twitched a single talon in her direction, lifting her out of the mud and pulling her somewhat unceremoniously to a point where he could look her in the eyes, which unfortunately involved her being out of contact with the ground and suspended by dark magic directly in front of a pair of angry red flames.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, LITTLE HUMAN? MAKING SUCH A RUCKUS, AND THE SKY STOPS? ARE YOU SO DETERMINED TO INTERRUPT MY DEALINGS?"
He wasn't angry. What suffused his voice in both cases was an untainted calm, even though his voice was among the more hostile sounds in all time and space. He was speaking very calmly and being very plain. The girl was becoming a nuisance, but he wouldn't let her know why. A demon never allowed any being to believe, even falsely, that they had some manner of advantage. Rage was to be wanton and capricious or carefully restrained. That was the dignity of a demon lord. So he stood calm and rational, keeping his power and his temper carefully in check, and letting no one know the reason why.

Naraku had thought he was safe, outsmarting yet another demon by tearing a rift in time and space, disappearing clear ten miles north on top of snowy mountain peak. He sat down to think about what he just left Keera and Mini to. Keera could hold her own for a while, and she was smart enough to figure out a way to either kill this guy or at least get away from him, but Mini was just getting to herself and probably still didn't realize what was going on when this demon tried to vaporize him.
This Angra Mainyu was something else. All at once he wondered if Keera really could stop him. He was at least a hundred times stronger than her, which wasn't something easily achieved. The only reason Mini seemed stronger was that Keera had a soft spot for friends. Especially soft for friends who were being brainwashed and hypnotized to fight with her. He took a deep breath which was cut off by something grabbing him.
Suddenly he found himself in his courtyard, Angra Mainyu holding onto him, having pulled him back. His eyes widened as he stared at the ancient, seemingly all powerful, demon.
"Sure," Keera muttered. "No lightning, huh, Mini. What do you call that?" Her voice was low, barely audible. Her eye twitched as Naraku was ripped back into their midst, and Mini was brought, through magic, to eye level with Angra Mainyu. THAT'S what made her skin crawl. He could use his power to pull people to him, and most likely whip them around like rag dolls. The only advantage she could have over that would be to somehow top that by using her power to counter his... which to her knowledge, wasn't possible.
You know if he attacks you, we're finished, right? the fox growled in Keera's head. Keera sighed, out loud. The rain was gone. Wait.
The rain was gone.
Keera's head snapped to the sky, eyes a bit wide, and then she glanced over at Angra Mainyu and her eyes narrowed. If Nayr got wet, he changed to Angra Mainyu. So the opposite should be true of him. If Angra Mainyu dried off completely, he SHOULD change back to Nayr.
Now you're thinking, the fox hissed. So dry him off.
The wind began to swirl around in the mutilated courtyard. So hard, in fact, that the bits of wood around Angra Mainyu, Mini, and Naraku were starting to shift in place. She realized that she wasn't ready to face off with a demon like this, so she'd shut him back out until she was ready.
Naraku listened to everyone talking, still lost for words at this crazy demon, when he both heard and felt the wind pick up, strong enough to start blowing the blocks of wood around the broken porch. What was Keera doing? What did she realize that he didn't already know?

Defying all odds of time, space, nature, physics, reality, and life itself, Angra Mainyu somehow conjured Naraku back into the courtyard. Mini had no idea how he did this, exactly, but this only further proved to her that he was not a force to be reckoned with. If only someone would listen to her! To make matters much worse, Angra Mainyu turned his fiery glare upon her the instant it stopped raining. A strangled yelp of sheer terror slipped out of the poor mermaid as he gestured towards her with one big, ugly talon. She vainly tried to scamper away, forgetting that she no longer had the legs to do so. All she managed to do was splash around in the mud (like a Magikarp). A moment later, an invisible force that felt much like a frigid vice clamped down around her middle and yanked her into the air. OhmygodohmygodIamgoingtodieandthatisallthereistoit, was all Mini could think to herself as she floated closer and closer to Angra Mainyu. With no legs to run with, no wings to fly with, and no controllable magic at her disposal, Mini saw absolutely no way out of this. She took a deep breath and tried to still her frantic breathing. If this truly was the end, the least she could do was face it like a true warrior. How many times had she looked death in the face only to laugh and walk away? Surely she could bring herself to do it one last time. Her resolve was strong and unwavering. Taking one last deep and calming breath, she gulped and steeled herself to look Angra Mainyu right in his face and tell him exactly how she felt about his big, fat, ugly face. That is, until Angra Mainyu roared two questions at her. Mini's face took on an almost comical expression that words simply could not describe. By some miracle, she managed to locate her voice. It seemed to have crawled down her throat and tried to digest itself in her stomach. It took great effort to pull it back up to her throat where it belong. "I-I-I-I-I d-d-didn't m-m-m-mean to st-st-stop the r-rain. I-It j-j-just s-s-sort of h-h-happened. And... A-A-And I..." For a moment, it looked as though she might faint right in midair. Thankfully, she didn't. After a few deep breaths and a shake of her head, she gulped and looked Mainyu right in the eyes. "And I would very much like it if you would quit calling me a human. What manner of human have you ever seen who can conjure up a thunderstorm with her bare hands? I'm a demon, and while nowhere near as powerful as you, I would at least like to recognized as the proper species before you-- gah!!" she shrieked as a windstorm erupted from out of nowhere.
